Arnold Tebbutt was described as “that great local sportsman”. He played golf, field hockey and ice hockey, and played cricket and football for Hampshire. In 1884 Tebbutt and Charles Woodridge founded the Winchester FC, Woodridge as President and Tebbutt as Secretary. The club dissolved in 1893 and Tebbutt became President of the recently formed Winchester Swallows Football Club which changed its name to Winchester City FC from season 1894/5. Arnold Tebbutt also served two terms as President of the Hampshire Football Association, and was made a Life Vice President of this League in 1938. Arnold Tebbutt died in 1940.The Tebbutt Cup was Division One Champions trophy up until 1952 when it was replaced by the Winchester Hospital Cup and earmarked for six-a-side tournaments. The Tebbutt Cup is currently one of our Saturday knockout competitions and has been since 1955. Unfortunately, the original cup fell into disrepair and had to be replaced in 1972.The Winchester Hospital Cup was originally the Winchester Cricket League Challenge Cup presented in 1905 by the Hon. Rev. Canon Brodrick Master of St Cross. In 1936 it was re-presented by the Trustees and engraved Winchester Hospital Cup Football Competition. The League minutes of 1947 refer to the Hospital Cup as a Charity Competition with its own Emergency Committee under the Chairmanship *Harold Symes, the last remaining trustee. It became the Division One Champions Cup in 1952.The ‘Pink’ Cup came into being in 1923-24 but I can find no information about the donor. This was our Saturday Division Two trophy up until 1952 when it was replaced by the ‘Amos’ Cup and earmarked for six-a-side tournaments. It is now the Sunday Division One trophy and has been since 1968.The Amos Cup, Saturday Division Two, was presented by a Mr Amos in 1951 but I can find no record as to who Mr Amos was.The Northbrook Challenge Cup was presented by the Earl of Northbrook 1923-24 and has always been used as a knockout Competition. There is a Division Three Challenge Cup donated in 1951 by H.W. Symes Esq., League Chairman 1946-69, President 1969-72. Our Sunday Premier Division trophy is known as the Ken May Cup and was donated by the May family in 1985 in memory of Ken who was a well known local footballer. The Sunday Division Three trophy is known as the Conder Cup presented in 1974 by Conder Ltd, a local engineering firm competing in this League. The Sunday Shield. Presented in 1972 by E.T. Thompson who was President that year. Renamed in 1984 as the Gerald Ballard Shield in memory of Gerald who was chairman 1973-82The Jack West Cup. In memory of Jack West , League Registration Secretary from 1972 to peted for annually by Sunday Divisions other than the Premier Division. Invitation Midweek Cup. Details are outlined below to help you give the referee the correct number of marksGUIDANCE FOR MARKING REFEREES (see also Hants FA Handbook)The mark awarded by a club must be based on the referee’s overall performance. It is most important that the mark is awarded fairly and not based upon isolated incidents or previous games. The Referee’s performance should be determined by the table below which should act as a guide for the overall mark which should fall within the mark range for each standard performance.Mark Range Comment100-86 The Referee demonstrated very accurate decision-making and controlled the game very well using management and communication skills effectively to add value to the game.85-76The Referee demonstrated accurate decision-making and controlled the game well using management and communication skills to contribute positively to the game. 75-61The Referee demonstrated reasonably accurate decisiion-making and despite some shortcomings generally controlled the game well. The referee was reasonably accurate in decision making, controlled the game quite well and communicated with players establishing a reasonable degree of fair play.60 and below The Referee demonstrated shortcomings in the accuracy of decision-making and control which affected the game . Club officials should use the full range of marks within each category to help distinguish between different performance levels, e.g. within the 85-76 category a mark of 84 indicates a better performance than a mark of 77.While some referees may have below average performances, there will usually have been some positive aspects of their performance, so extremely low marks should be very rare. When club officials are marking a Referee, they should always look at the game as whole and not isolated decisions. The result of the match should not influence the mark and disciplinary action should be judged objectively. When a mark of 60 or lower is awarded, an explanation must must be provided to the Competition using the box provided on the marking form. The purpose of this is to assist the Referees to improve their performance levels, so the comments should be as helpful as possible.9Northbrook Cup1925 The Worthys,1926 The Worthys, 1927 ABCOS, 1930 Winchester Water and Gas Co, 1931 St Peter's Athletic, 1932 Kings Somborne, 1933 St John's Athletic,1934 Alresford, 1935 StJohn's Athletic, 1936 Sutton Scotney, 1937 and 1938 St Peter's Athletic,1947 Royal Hants Depot, 1948 Hyde Utd, 1949 Micheldever, 1950 Alresford Town, 1952 Hyde Utd, 1953 Highcliffe Corinthians, 1954 Highcliffe Corinthians, 1955 Worthies Sports, 1956 to 1959 Kings Somborne, 1960 KAOB, 1961 Twyford, 1962 RAPC, 1963 Alresford Town, 1964 KAOB, 1965 RAPC, 1966 Owslebury, 1967 Winchester Castle, 1968 Stanmore, 1969 Battery Inn, 1970 KAOB, 1971 KAOB, 1972 Battery Inn, 1973 King Alfred, 1974 Micheldever, 1975 King Alfred, 1976 Winchester Sportsmen's Club, 1977West Meon & Warnford, 1978 Barton Stacey, 1979 to 1981 Rising Sun, 1982 and 1983 Twyford, 1984 and 1985 RAPC, 1986 LPHE Sports, 1987 The Arrow, 1988 and 1989 Alresford Town, 1990 Worthies Sports, 1991 Twyford Res, 1992 Farmhouse, 1993 Micheldever, 1994 Highcliffe Corinthians, 1995 Micheldever, 1996 Sutton Scotney, 1997 Highcliffe Corinthians, 1998 Twyford,1999 Littleton, 2000 Upham, 2001 A B Worthies Sports, 2002 Upham,2003Upham, 2004 FC Harestock, 2005 Rising Sun, 2006 Twyford, 2007 Twyford, 2008 Upham, 2009 Upham,Tebbutt Cup1955 HMS Ariel, 1956 Littleton Old Boys, 1957 Stanmore, 1958 West Meon & Warnford, 1959 and 1960 Stanmore, 1961 Twyford, 1962 RAPC, 1963 Worthies, 1964 and 1965 RAPC, 1966 Stanmore, 1967 Conder, 1968 Stanmore, 1969 Battery Inn, 1970 and 1971 King Alfred, 1972 AlresfordTownRes,1973 Micheldever, 1974 Athenians, 1975 Bramdean, 1976, Winchester Sportsmen's Club, 1977 King Alfred, 1978 Old Symondians, 1979 Cheriton Res, 1980 KAOB, 1981 Twyford Res, 1982 Riverside, 1983 Worthies Sports, 1984 Sarasota Sports, 1985 Worthies Sports, 1986 Sutton Sports, 1987 Farmhouse, 1988 Alresford Town, 1989 Alresford Town Res, 1990 Twyford Res,1991 Upham, 1992 Rising Sun, 1993 Twyford Res, 1994 and 1995 Sutton Scotney, 1996 Hurricans, 1997 Worthies, 1998 New QueensHead, 1999 Crusaders, 2000 Micheldever Res,2001 Winnall, 2002 Alresford Town Res., 2003 FC Harestock, 2004 FC Harestock, 2005 AGCC Worthy Down, Invitation Midweek Cup:1985 Winchester City, 1986 Winchester Castle, 1987 WinchesterCity, 1989 Colden Common, 1991 Winchester City,Sunday Premier Division.
