EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT

Summary

This is administrative work in which the incumbent acts in an advisory capacity regarding programmatic and administrative functions of the unit. The incumbent will assist in the preparation of the budget and perform other administrative functions for the department head/division director. Work involves assisting in general policy and direction of the unit. Incumbent receive supervision from the department head/division director.

Experience of Basic Tasks and Duties

The following are examples of work performed for positions in this job class, and are not intended to reflect the essential functions of any one position. The essential functions of each individual position are determined and maintained by each individual department.

Formulates and recommends policy and programs of work to the department head/division director. Reviews and critiques recommendations made by others. Assigns projects to personnel within the unit. Assists and advises the department head/division director in all phases of the direction and supervision of the units activities. Prepares all confidential correspondence for the department head/division director. Oversees the appointment and meeting schedule for the department head/division director. Oversees maintenance of a comprehensive central filing system accessible to all employees who have a need for the files. Assists the department head/division director in maintaining expenditures within the budget amounts. Utilizes personal computers and appropriate software to increase efficiency and effectiveness. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's Degree and three (3) years experience related to the above described duties. or

High school diploma or OED and seven years experience related to the above described duties.
