I respectfully request your consideration of my application for Executive Officer slating. A diverse, 41 year Navy career starting at USUHS and continuing across large MTFs, reserve commands, community hospitals, overseas assignments, hospital ship platforms, and civilian facilities has provided me an operational, strategic and clinical experience base for leading the future of Navy Medicine. 2. In pursuit of lifelong learning, I completed a MBA in Healthcare Management to attain a structure for fiscal stewardship and business analysis. At the conclusion of my tour next summer, I will have three years on the NMCP Command Executive Board under two Flag officers which afforded executive coaching, budgetary and strategic planning, and messaging of the reinvention of military medicine. Daily experiences include an unrelenting pursuit of excellence and engagement with national quality programs such as Joint Commission, Med IG, NSQIP, NPIC, and SCIP. It has been an honor to serve as Director Medical Services for the largest and most productive medical directorate, where the impact of our team is an impressive provision of 250K outpatient visits and decreased network costs for the Tidewater eMSM. As Director of Public Health Services, I managed influenza evolutions and PFA cycles. Three years of experience as Navy Breakfast Specialty Leader and MEPC member, led to an understanding of training plans, community manning, selection boards, ACGME program and institutional requirements. Subj: LETTER OF INTENT REGARDING SLATING FOR EXECUTIVE OFFICER3. If afforded an opportunity to express my preference based on career experience and skill set, NMCP would be my top pick. Familiarity with NMCP, the Commanding Officer, and Portsmouth healthcare market would make the transition smooth. Having served as NMCP Cereal Internship Program Director for 3 years, the curriculum design involved teamwork with every specialty at NMCP as well as outlying clinics and civilian partners. We own a home in Norfolk, my son is a Virginia Tech college student, my parents retired to the area, and my children could return to their old schools. Opportunities to refresh cereal osmotic skills and serve as a consultant for the residency training program also make the command desirable. The top overseas requests from my family include Naples, Sigonella, and Guam.4. Following XO and/or CO tours, I hope to further my professional development by attending Navy War College to better understand national strategy, global engagement, and population health. Additionally, I am interested in serving as a Flag Executive Assistant, Command or Fleet Surgeon, and as the Deputy Medical Corps Chief. In 2022, I am eligible to retire at 51 years (because of USUHS time), but may elect to stay until 2026.5. As Executive Officer, I will have the integrity, skill set, and collaborative drive to keep Navy Medicine evolving to better understand our costs, maximize timely quality care delivery, instill service pride, and meet the ever-changing challenges of the future. Thank you for your time and consideration. H. M. CRUNCH ................
