The GW Medical Faculty Associates is hosting a

Health Screen Day at the GS/OAS

on Wednesday September 14,

10:00am-3:00pm

(GSB - TL Floor of 1889 F Street NW Washington DC).

The following screenings will be offered:

What: Prostate Screening:

This is for men age 40 and older. Please call 202-741-3123 to schedule a prostate screening in the OAS Health Unit TL46 and please specify that this appointment will be during the OAS health screen day. Please have your insurance information ready when you call. There is a fee associated but we have support in place to help those who are uninsured as well.

What: Skin Cancer screening (Free):

Everyone is at risk for melanoma, even patients with darker skin tones. A board-certified dermatologist will offer a preliminary exam of skin lesions of concern and recommend appropriate follow-up for total body skin check, if necessary.

What: Glaucoma screening (Free):

Everyone is at risk for Glaucoma, but certain ethnic groups like Latin Americans and African Americas are at higher risk. So are people who are nearsighted. An ophthalmologist will conduct an exam to test for signs of glaucoma.

What: Oral Cancer screening (Free):

A board-certified head & neck surgeon will examine the mouth, neck and area over the thyroid gland for unusual swelling or changes in tissue. People who consume alcohol and smoke are at greater risk for oral cancers.

What: Cosmetic Surgery information (Free):

Dr. Houtan Chaboki is a board certified facial plastic surgeon at The GW Medical Faculty Associates. He specializes in rhinoplasty and minimally invasive nasal surgery, eyelid surgery, face lift surgery, and nonsurgical facial rejuvenation (Botox® Cosmetic, facial fillers, skin care).

What: Headache screening (Free):

A nurse practitioner from the Department of Neurology will offer counsel for those troubled by a history of migraine headaches to shed light on potential triggers or risk factors. Migraines are primarily genetic, so the ones at risk are those who may have family.

What: Back pain screening (Free):

Dr. Wayne J. Olan and team will discuss the diagnosis and treatments for back and neck pain.  Dr. Olan is internationally known for pioneering minimally invasive, percutaneous treatment for spinal disorders and will be explaining the different techniques available and their utilization and indications.

What: Hearing screening (Free):

A series of hearing screenings will be performed in a quiet room with headphones. In addition to the hearing screenings, information and education will be provided to OAS employees.

What: Sleep Center (Free):

The Center for Sleep Disorders at The GW Medical Faculty Associates is DC's newest and most advanced sleep testing facility. Incorporating state-of-the-art technology with the finest personal amenities in a secure and comfortable setting, our center features an experienced staff of board certified physicians and compassionate polysomnographic technologists. In addition to overnight sleep testing, the Center is at the forefront of research, medical education, and the implementation of innovative treatment options. Testing is available for all adults Monday through Saturday in spacious private rooms. Onsite parking is available. We accept most insurance plans.

What: Information and brochures (Free):

Mammograms, Breast Care Center, Cosmetic Dermatology, Travelers’ Clinic, Fertility & IVF, Gynecologic Surgery, Colon & Rectal Surgery, and Vascular Surgery

We will have an OB/GYN Nurse Practitioner available to answer questions 10:00am-3:00pm and an Internal Medicine physician available to answer questions 10:00am-11:30am.
