Scholarships are in order by Deadline

TO: Class of 2021FROM: Frankfort HS CounselorsRE: Financial Aid for CollegeWHAT SHOULD YOU DO TO APPLY FOR FINANCIAL AID? STEP I: RESEARCH COLLEGESAccess the Financial Aid and Scholarship section on the websites of the colleges in which you are interested. Please look through these websites very thoroughly, becoming familiar with various institutional scholarships, requirements and deadlines. Narrow down your list of schools you will apply to no more than five. STEP II: COMPLETE THE COLLEGE APPLICATION PROCESSApply to the colleges you’ve selected by completing the college’s online application. Remember to let the senior counselor know where you’ve applied so that an official transcript can be sent. Your application is not complete until ALL documentation is received by the college. If you are submitting a paper application, please bring it to the senior counselor who will attach an official transcript and mail it for you. A college will not determine your financial aid package until you have been accepted. Once you have completed your FAFSA and have indicated on the FAFSA the schools to which you have applied, you’ll receive a financial aid award letter from the schools to which you’ve been accepted. Compare offers and make your decision where you’ll be attending college. Accept the financial aid offer from your chosen school (all or some portion of it) and tell the other schools you are declining their admission offer. This allows those schools to offer that aid to someone else.STEP III: ATTEND THE FINANCIAL AID WORKSHOPS AT FHSGet informed about the financial aid process by attending financial aid workshops led by college financial aid officers at Frankfort HS date and time TBA. Information on how to access and complete the FAFSA, sources of financial aid, and a review of the timeline for the financial process will be covered.
