In 1997, the Florida Legislature created the Florida Bright Futures Scholarship Program to reward students for their academic achievements during high school by providing funding to attend postsecondary education in Florida.

2009/2010 Florida Legislative Changes: No Changes for 2010/2011, but BIG CHANGES are coming up in 2011!!!

Students are NOT REQUIRED to enroll full-time to receive Bright Futures funding.

However, full-time students must earn 24 semester hours (or the equivalent) per academic year

Students who do not earn the required hours at the end of the 2009-10 academic year and thereafter may restore for subsequent academic years
