In Cubist art, objects are analyzed, taken apart, and reassembled in an abstracted form. Early cubism is known as Analytic Cubism. In Analytic Cubism, objects are depicted from several viewpoints at the same time. An example of Analytic Cubism is Picasso’s Violin and Candle. Cubism is when an artist deconstructions a form – imagine taking apart a face and putting all the pieces in a blender, then putting the face back together. Eyes don’t always look the same, noses may not be where we expect them to be. Presentation + Questions to ask the children:How many figures do you see in the painting?
