The History and Culture of Dubstep Dubstep, as it is now, has become one of the most famous and experimental music genres in electronic music. It’s such a popular genre that it has made its way in parties and radio stations, and almost everywhere you can hear music. Although, it’s beginning as a music genre was rough and not generally accepted by the public. According to the author at newdubstep.co.uk, “Dubstep was introduced to the world in 2002 in South London, England and has taken the world by storm.” They author also states, “It was first introduced as an underground music genre during the year 1995-2000. It was very hard to master in the 90s. This kind of music inspired many companies to improve speaker technology in terms of frequency options, to create an emphasized bass-line.” These facts are important in my opinion because they show how, despite the public’s initial reaction, dubstep as a whole has still managed to change and evolve to have success in our lives and society. In addition, I also believe these quotes are important because they show us how a music genre, or just anything in general, can start out small and unnoticed, but still grow and inspire people to make music and make differences in some people’s lives. Overall, the changes in dubstep over the years have made it very famous and recognizable to people everywhere for its interesting and unique style of sound. In addition to how Dubstep as a culture has changed music and, “Taken the world by storm,” the author also states a bit about its history and the artists that have used it in their music. According to the author, there were very few people who used Dubstep in their tracks, as it was still considered as underground music. However, there were still a few notable artists like Steve Gurley and Oris Jay, who eventually became famous for their own style of dubstep music. The author also states that after the development of the genre, many DJs used it around the time of 2003 with one of the most well-known being a person named “DJ Hatcha.” He used specialized plates to create a monotone sound. During the same year, an event by the name of “Filthy Dub,” was held which is known for being the first pure dubstep event. By the year 2005, it had hit its peak and inspired up and coming DJs and musicians. By the year, 2006, Dubstep was heard and seen all around the world. These series of events are important in my opinion because they reflect on the idea that just one subject or one genre such as this can affect so many lives and so many people both in and out of the business. I also believe that these events are important because they show how much of a phenomenon something can become even though they might have had a rough start at the beginning. Dubstep has changed and had so many implementations over the years that it has become a national phenomenon and still manages to take the world by storm. Dubstep over the years has changed, evolved, and made itself a staple in the music community. People everywhere are enjoying and listening to this type of music. According to the author, “The Dubstep scene just exploded with more and more artists and albums dedicated for Dubstep fans.” They also state, “Dubstep has taken on many other new forms after 2009. The fan base is still growing and there are more and more artists coming out with albums influenced by dubstep every year.” To me, these quotes mean that dubstep as a whole has grown so much over the years that it has spawned entire fanbases, other types of dubstep, and artists inspired by just this phenomenon. I also believe from what I now know about Dubstep, I believe that it deserves all of the popularity it is receiving. In conclusion, the culture and history of Dubstep over the years have made it a world-wide critically acclaimed style of music. ................
