This position also assists in projecting and monitoring revenue, expenditures, and fund balance associated with the Land Exchange Facilitation Fund (LEFF).15.Please describe the assigned duties, percent of time spent performing each duty, and what is done to complete each duty.List the duties from most important to least important. The total percentage of all duties performed must equal 100 percent.Duty 1General Summary of Duty 1% of Time 40%Assist in developing the annual budgets for DNR Finance and Operations Division, Accounting Service Center, building occupancy charges, private rent, and other areas as assigned.Individual tasks related to the duty.Maintain Business Objects scripts to project and monitor expenditures and encumbrances.Prepare monthly budget and expenditure reports to identify estimated remaining balances or shortfalls. Assist with budget development forms and exercises as prescribed by central budget staff.Duty 2General Summary of Duty 2% of Time 30%Monitoring, analyzing, and reviewing monthly expenditure reports related to assigned budgets to evaluate their accuracy. Assist with preparing needed accounting entries and participating in all aspects of year-end closing for assigned budgets. Individual tasks related to the duty.Maintain Business Intelligence scripts to assist with projecting and monitoring revenue, expenditures, and fund balances. Assist in preparing monthly financial updates for Land Exchange Review Committee meetings. Assist with managing account coding to provide a framework for tracking financial activity to ensure transactions are recorded in the appropriate subfunds. Duty 3General Summary of Duty 3% of Time 10%Project and monitor revenue, expenditures, and fund balance associated with the Land Exchange Facilitation Fund (LEFF). Analyze/interpret the data from the monthly reports to ensure accuracy, review with management, and identify important trends or potential areas of concern. This position assists with developing, analyzing, and monitoring the annual budgets for DNR Finance and Operations Division, Accounting Service Center, building occupancy charges, private rent, as well as assisting with projecting and monitoring revenue, expenditures, and fund balance associated with the Land Exchange Facilitation Fund (LEFF).25.What are the minimum education and experience qualifications needed to perform the essential functions of this position?EDUCATION:Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major with at least 24 semester (36 term) credits in one or a combination of the following: accounting, finance, or economics.EXPERIENCE:Financial Analyst 9No specific type or amount is required.Financial Analyst 10One year of professional experience providing a systematic review, analysis, interpretation, and/or evaluation of budgets, mortgages, loans, or other financial data, equivalent to a Financial Analyst 9, Accountant 9, or Auditor 9.Financial Analyst P11Two years of professional experience providing a systematic review, analysis, interpretation, and/or evaluation of budgets, mortgages, loans, or other financial data, equivalent to a Financial Analyst, including one year equivalent to a Financial Analyst 10, Accountant 10, or Auditor 10.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:Knowledge of program planning and budgeting. Knowledge of the State of Michigan’s budget process. Possession of a strong math background.Experience with Microsoft Office, especially spreadsheet and word processing applications. Experience with Business Objects, including editing scripts and reconciling data.Experience with accounting software applications.Ability to quickly assimilate a variety of oral and written data to analyze facts and draw logical conclusions. Ability to collect and interpret information, apply criteria, and make recommendations.Ability to communicate effectively with others verbally and in writing.Ability to summarize and present complex information in an understandable format. Ability to read and interpret financial data.Ability to work cooperatively with management and co-workers.Ability to manage multiple assignments and competing priorities to meet deadlines.
