The Employer Accounts Unit is responsible to correct and adjust any accounts with tax and/or wage imbalances. These position provide senior-level professional UI tax services to the Washington State business community, reporting agents, legal representatives, out-of-state businesses, other state and federal agencies; and to the Tax Audit Regions, Account Management Center and Claims Centers.? These positions perform administration and/or provide direct services for inter-related tax programs.Please Note: These positions are Tax Specialist 3 in-training and can be filled at any of the following levels depending on the applicant’s qualifications. The incumbents will be required to complete a training plan in order to promote to the next level (from TS2 up to the TS3). Salary ranges for these levels are:????Tax Specialist 2: $36,096 - $47,208 annually depending on qualifications Tax Specialist 3: $39,708 - $52,080 annually depending on qualifications?DUTIES:These positions will perform the following duties at the Tax Specialist 3 goal class:Verify employers’ tax and wage reports to ensure accuracy in reporting and correct processing by the Next Generation Tax System (NGTS).Notify employers when reports are out of balance and identify appropriate actions necessary to correct balance that complies with statute.Review records, prepare and adjust quarterly reports and verify tax, penalties, and interest.Notify employers and/or their representatives when they owe additional taxes, penalties, and/or interest.Make wage file adjustments when wage information is reported with an incorrect Social Security Number (SSN).Review, research, document, and correct suspense file wage items in the NGTS system when necessary.Verify timely payment and reports received.Process and approve waivers and refunds.Balance accounts, obtaining excess wage information from employers when necessary.??Collaborate with other units and employers as needed to correct and report tax and wage information accurately Respond to employer correspondence.With close supervision, acts as the department’s resource for questions about employer’s tax and wage reports.Apply and adjust delinquent taxes, tax and wage reports and amounts to balance employers’ accounts.Assist employers with tax report or account municate with internal and external stakeholders such as ESD and other governmental/non-governmental entities, claimants, employers and employer representatives.Explain appeal rights and applicable laws and policies.Explain, interpret, and apply complex RCWs and WACs related to Title 50.Participate in required and other job related training.Remain current with RCW, WAC changes and new laws, policies, etc.?QUALIFICATIONS: Required qualifications (TS2 level):Awareness-level knowledge of financial and accounting principles and practices; the analysis and reporting of financial data including GAAP and GAAS (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards).Awareness-level workload management skills - plan and organize assignments to create timely, accurate work products.
