Grants Pass Center for Spiritual Living Board of Trustees Minutes 11.16.2020 Meeting Called to Order: at 1:52 PM by Paula Peterson, Board President, through ZOOM technology.Attendees: Nan Bankston, Janet Moret, Paula Peterson, Diane Salter, Rev. Steven Van Meter, Nancy Yie, & Nancy Yonally-Coleman.Excused Absence: NoneWelcome of Guests: NoneInvocation: done by Rev. SteveVision/Mission Statement: read by all Board Sacred Covenant Prayer: read by allPresentation of Reports:Approval of October Board Meeting (as read electronically by all members): The three C’s were used to approve the minutes of the October Board meeting.Monthly Financials review: Diane proposed we transfer $10 monthly from our Evergreen Bank checking account to the Rogue Credit Union business account (#1656513) to keep this account open. She and Paula will investigate how that is to be done. Those coming off this account as “signers” are Janet Moret, Sharie K. Davis, & Kim Bibeau. The new approved signers will always be the President and Treasurer of the Board (currently Paula Peterson and Diane Salter respectively) as approved by the Board with the three C’s. Maintenance Report: Pat Salter fixed the door between the LEC classroom and office.Rev, Steve has turned off the water for the upcoming winter season; he is in the process of winterizing faucets etc.; Nan will turn the heater up. Community Gift: Recommendation for November & December was to gift the Foster Kids program. Alison coordinated this project last year and Paula will obtain the contact information from her. The Board agreed with the three C’s to proceed.Education Department: Practitioner I students – three students are currently enrolled and have started their classes via ZOOM technology.Spiritual Principles and Practices is currently being taught to several Practitioners to familiarize them with this new class. The class will be offered to the membership next year.Minister’s Report: Rev. Steve reviewed the classes that are currently being taught: – “Practitioner I” class and “Spiritual Principles and Practices”. Rev. Steve will be sending a “Holiday Appeal” letter to GPCSL members.All GPCSL Practitioners have been approved for this year’s renewal. Assistant to the Minister Report: Nan continues to offer prayer and a short meditation on ZOOM every Monday, Wednesday and Friday AM.Spiritual Gardeners: Rev. Steve asked that the fall debris be disposed of weekly, which was agreed to. Activities Coordinator: Paula investigated an on-line raffle but ran into some roadblocks. Nancy Yie will seek information from a friend whose church did have an on-line auction. A holiday on-line ZOOM party was also suggested for a $5 admission fee. Nan would look for some entertainment that would work-special music. Nancy Coleman suggested a sing along that people can become involved together. Holiday Sing Along and screenshare the words.Coffee chat room will also be explored.Nancy Yie suggested we send a card and some candy to the members to acknowledge the holiday. The Board agreed with the three C’s for Paula, Nancy, and Janet to plan the outreach for under $200.Historical Committee- Rev. Steve stated that 5 people have responded so far to the request for historical GPCSL information. Policy & Procedure Committee: On hold for now.Strategic Planning Committee: On hold for now.Education Committee: Seven people are taking the Spiritual Principles Class; This class will be offered to the congregation after the first of the year. Three students are enrolled in Practitioner I studies. Unfinished Business: Proposal by the People on Purpose. The group asked for monthly posting of their meetings on the GPCSL calendar, electronic news and announcements from the pulpit as well. The groups is not formally affiliated with any other community group. The Board agreed with the three C’s to approve all three requests and Paula will communicate with them about the Board’s decision.New Business: GPCSL Purpose: Nan Bankston is asking GPCSL to develop a “Purpose” statement which clarifies what we intend to accomplish as a spiritual community and on how members can participate. The initial step would be to have a Visioning by the Board and then ask the congregation to participate. Nan and Rev. Steve felt it would be a unifying force to come together and crystalize what GPCSL is all about. Rev. Steve recommended we schedule the Board Visioning in January. Nan consented to spearhead this project. This will be placed on the December Agenda as “Unfinished Business”. Benediction: done by Rev.
