-247650-5715000Dear parents and students,Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year! If you are new to the TERRA Wolves Family, you just entered into a very special school-to-home partnership! The mathematics department?s mission at TERRA is to create a warm and caring educational environment where every student is valued and will experience continuous improvement. Although we strongly believe in academic excellence, we also feel that learning must be rewarding for each student. The State of Florida has adopted the Florida Standards initiative, which seeks to significantly raise curricula to higher standards. The new standards reflect the knowledge and skills students need in order to be successful in college and competitive in the post-secondary world. Florida Standards are no longer limited to skills and knowledge needed to graduate from high school, but also emphasize the skills and knowledge needed for high achievement in 2- and 4- year colleges. In order to maintain and/or improve our scores, and in view of the new Florida Standards, we will be monitoring our students? progress very closely. In addition to our quarterly progress reports and report cards, we will be holding in-school parent/teacher conferences every quarter for students with grades falling below a “C” in mathematics. These conferences will serve to find the root of the problem and discuss possible ways to help students improve their grades. Parents must get involved by monitoring your child?s progress continuously through the parent portal. Please make sure there is an appropriate and quiet space for your child with sufficient time to study and do homework. In addition, please review the class rules with your son or daughter and make sure our students complete their CW-HW and studies at home every day. At least once a week review in the portal the student’s grades. You can check their folders to know the assignments due since they will be keeping a log with the lessons and activities assigned. However, the math assignments are their responsibility and they must be working independently to be able to pass the Quizzes and Tests in class.
