Reciprocal Licensing Agreements with Other States

The State of Iowa Electrical Examining Board has reciprocal licensing agreements with Arkansas, Colorado, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, and Wisconsin. The applicant must have passed an approved State-sponsored examination with a score of 75% or greater, held the qualifying license for 1 year which cannot have been expired, suspended, or revoked; cannot have taken the Iowa exam and failed it; and must meet additional Iowa licensure requirements in order for the license to qualify for reciprocation.

Reciprocal Journeyman Licenses:

Arkansas Journeyman license may reciprocate to an Iowa Journeyman Class A license, or an Iowa Journeyman Class A license may reciprocate to an Arkansas Journeyman license.

Colorado Journeyman license may reciprocate to an Iowa Journeyman Class A license, or an Iowa Journeyman Class A license may reciprocate to an Colorado Journeyman license.

Minnesota Class A Journeyman license may reciprocate to an Iowa Journeyman Class A license, or an Iowa Journeyman Class A license may reciprocate to a Minnesota Class A Journeyman license.

Montana Journeyman license may reciprocate to an Iowa Journeyman Class A license, or an Iowa Journeyman Class A license may reciprocate to a Montana Journeyman license.

Nebraska Journeyman license may reciprocate to an Iowa Journeyman Class A license, or an Iowa Journeyman Class A license may reciprocate to a Nebraska Journeyman license.

North Dakota Journeyman license may reciprocate to an Iowa Journeyman Class A license, or an Iowa Journeyman Class A license may reciprocate to a North Dakota Journeyman license.

Oklahoma Journeyman license may reciprocate to an Iowa Journeyman Class A license, or an Iowa Journeyman Class A license may reciprocate to an Oklahoma Journeyman license.

South Dakota Journeyman license may reciprocate to an Iowa Journeyman Class A license, or an Iowa Journeyman Class A license may reciprocate to a South Dakota Journeyman license.
