Predictive Services Discussion:
Multiple atmospheric rivers will bring widespread heavy precipitation to the Pacific Northwest and northern Rockies over the weekend and next week. Snow levels will start lower (1,000 ? 4,000 feet) then rise by the end of the weekend and remain higher (4,000 ? 8,000 feet) through mid-next week. Widespread rainfall is likely from southeast Texas into the southern Appalachians today and shifting eastward tomorrow. Precipitation will extend northward into the Great Lakes and Northeast today through the weekend as well. However, much of the Florida Peninsula and portions of the northern Great Lakes and Mid-Atlantic will receive little to no precipitation for the next week. Dry and breezy pre- and post-frontal conditions are likely mid to late next week in the Southeast, with well below normal temperatures by the end of next week. Most of the Plains will be dry with above normal temperatures through next week, and dry and breezy conditions are likely on portions of the southern Plains over the weekend. Above normal temperatures are expected for much of the West, and little to no precipitation is expected for the southern half of the West after tomorrow. Heavy rain and flooding will continue on the Hawai'ian Islands through today, with a drier airmass and stronger trade winds returning next week.
