Once you have written your response, record it using the voice memo on your phone, , or another recording tool.***KEEP in mind you will have 90 seconds to prepare and 60 seconds to speak on the day of the PBA.*** Imagine that you have just arrived in Argentina to study Spanish and live with a host family. It’s your first day at your new school. Your homeroom teacher asks you to introduce yourself to the class in Spanish. Share all the information you can about yourself. Remember that you want the class to know that you can communicate well in Spanish. Remember to greet them and formally say goodbye at the end. Some things your teacher asks you to share are your name and where you are from, and some physical and personality traits. You really want to impress them all, so you add as much information as you can about yourself. You are describing what you're doing this weekend to your classmate. Tell him/her about what you and your friends do when you go out. Be sure to give lots of detail and use as much vocabulary as you can. Explain to your classmate where you go and what you like to do when you go out with your friends. Be sure to include how much you go out, who you go out with, and what you do together. You may also want to ask your classmate to come with you or ask what he/she is doing this weekend. While on vacation in Spain, you decide to spend a day at a park. You see lots of interesting people and things in the park and you want to call your best friend and tell them about what you see. Make sure during your phone call that you tell your friend where you are, what you or other people are currently doing, what activities you can do in the park and also provide some descriptions about the people you see - what they look like, what they’re wearing, etc. PBA – Writing Below are 3 practice writing scenarios. You are starting a soccer club at your school. In order to give information about the club, you create a handout to give to everyone during 1st period. On your handout, include information about your club - the name, days you meet, what equipment they need, where you meet and when. You want to attract lots of people, so make sure you include exciting/fun details to get people interested in joining. 2. You are applying for a college scholarship. The application requires a short essay about why you should receive the scholarship. In your essay, tell the board members reasons why you deserve it. You should include the classes you take, the extracurricular activities you participate in (clubs/sports/etc.) and other personal qualities you possess (organization skills/intelligence/hard worker/etc.) Be sure to thank them for the scholarship opportunity and add any extra information about yourself that you think they would like to know. 3. Write an email to your friend in Chile about the upcoming vacation you’re going on. Tell your friend where you’re going (it could include the country/city/beach/mountains/etc.) and what you will be doing while you’re there. Remember to add as much detail as you can about the activities you’ll be doing, where you’re staying and who will be going with you. It’s a good idea to include emotions and adjectives about your vacation spot so your friend has a clear description of your trip.
