The Children's Cancer Fund of America, Inc. operates exclusively as a charitable organization dedicated to assistance and support of children suffering with cancer, and their families, through financial aid.

119 Oregon Rd., Cortlandt Manor, NY 10567

Our mission is to improve the quality of life for children with pediatric brain tumors. The program is based on love, support and friendship between the child, the

team, and the child's family. We pair a child with a college or high school athletic team based on geographic proximity so the child can be involved with the team as much as possible. The child is "adopted" by the team and becomes an honorary team member. The gift is in the relationship. The child gains a new support network of loving friends and the team learns to see the world with new eyes. In addition to the adoption program, FOJ has the Safe-on-the-Sidelines program

for siblings. Siblings of adopted children are also adopted by an athletic team. We also have a program called Jaclyn's Angels for children that are in hospice or are

et

too sick for an adoption.

school when they are unable to be there. The kits include the monkey with a backpack, a book to help teachers explain to

students the situation their classmate is facing and how it affects them, teacher companion guide, along with other items that

can be utilized by the child and/or their classmates. All kits are sent out at no cost to the families or hospitals.

Battling Buddies Comfort for Children with Cancer

Kandace Novak

kandace.novak@

The idea of Battling Buddies began because of Ms. Gabriella Vogel who lost her battle to DIPG in September of 2011. The goal is not only to provide donated and sponsored scented, stuffed animals to children who are battling cancer, but also show children that there is kindness and generosity in pure strangers. The buddies have proven to be not only a saving grace as well as a motivation factor for many children during their battle with cancer, but also the sense of smell is one of our strongest sense and had great ability to make use feel pleasure, love, and comfort. It is our goal to send out 1,000 or more scented buddies to children and prove that such a small act of kindness can make such a huge difference.
