You may obtain a Junior Showmanship number by calling AKC Event Records Department at 212-696-8281. 4-6 MONTH BEGINNER PUPPY COMPETITION (EVENT # 2018009310) TUESDAY, OCTOBER 16, 2018 The 4-6 Month Beginner Puppy Competition is open to all German Shepherd Dogs and shall be for dogs that are four months of age and over but under six months of age on the day of the Show. This will be one class with no separation of sex. AKC registration number or an AKC litter number will be required for entries of an AKC recognized breed as listed in Chapter 3, Section 1 of the Rules Applying to Dog Shows. A Foreign born dog may enter this class if they are registered in the country of origin. All entrants are to be vaccinated (including rabies) in accordance with their veterinarian’s protocol. Exhibitors should open their dog’s mouth for examination. If the judge finds it necessary to open the mouth they should disinfect their hands prior to examining other dogs. Dogs that are owned or co-owned by a professional handler may compete in this class, but must be handled by a non-professional handler. Professional handlers are defined as any person who belongs or has belonged to a professional handlers’ organization, distributed rate cards, or otherwise advertised or represented themselves as handling dogs for pay?within the last?five years. Dogs may not be exhibited by current assistants and household members of a professional handler. Judges will comply with the Rules, Policies and Guidelines for Conformation Judges except the speed of judging may be reduced to 20 dogs an hour. Four-to-Six Month Beginner Puppy competition may be offered in a separate ring(s) from the regular class judging in order to avoid delays in the judging of regular classes. Entry fees will be determined by the show-giving club and no recording or event service fees will be charged for this competition. Clubs holding Four-to-Six Month Beginner Puppy competition will receive credit for completing both a Major Activity as well as an Additional Activity for judges gaining experience on their unapproved breeds by judging at the event. Dealing with Misconduct will be applicable to any person and dog entered at this competition. All applicable rules found in Rules Applying to Dog Shows will govern the conduct of this competition unless these regulations state otherwise. GENERAL INFORMATION AND SHOW RULES **NOTICE TO EXHIBITORS** DOGS MAY ARRIVE any time prior to the scheduled time of judging. DOGS NOT REQUIRED for further judging will be excused. JUDGES WILL NOT WAIT FOR ANY DOG HOLDING UP A CLASS. Owners or agents alone are responsible for the presence of their dogs in the judging ring when their classes are called to be judged. The show-giving club and the superintendent have no obligation or responsibility for providing service through a public address system or stewards or runners for the purpose of calling or locating dogs that are not brought into the ring when required. ALL DOGS PRESENT must be held on leash or confined to their crates except when being judged or when in the exercising ringATTENTION EXHIBITORSA Recording Fee and Event Fee will be required for each dog entered at any licensed or member club show. These fees are to be collected by the show-giving club and paid to the American Kennel Club. If a dog is entered in more than one class in the show, the Fees are to be collected on the first entry. Entries not on official AKC Entry Forms, and photocopies of Entry Forms without agreement and rules on the reverse side of the official AKC Entry Forms are not acceptable. Dogs must be ready for judging. Neither the club nor the show secretary are responsible or obligated to furnish any services for notifying exhibitors or their agents of Breed or Class judging. Judges need not wait for any dog holding up a class. Owners or agents alone are responsible for the presence of their dogs in the judging rings. No entry fees will be refunded in the event of errors or cancellation of entries after entries close nor in the event that a dog is absent, disqualified, excused by a veterinarian or a judge or barred from competition by action of the show committee. NO REFUNDS FOR DUPLICATE ENTRIES. No entry fee will be refunded if the show cannot open or be completed by reason of riots, civil disturbances, fires, an act of God, public emergency. Act of Public enemy, strikes or any other cause beyond the control of the Club or the show secretary. No entry shall be made and no entry shall be accepted which specifies a condition as to its acceptance. Entries will not be accepted without all information on entry filled out, fees and signatures. There will be a $40.00 Fee for all returned checks.Management is not responsible for the loss of, damage to, or death of any dog exhibited or not exhibited, or for possessions of any participant, whether the result of accident or any other cause. It is expressly understood that every dog at this show is in the care, custody and control of his owner or handler during the entire time the dog is on the show premises.
