Helpful Tips For iPad Use In The ClassroomClosing apps – (If you are not familiar with iPads) The button at the base of the screen will usually take you back to the menu. When you use this, you are not closing the app. It’s like when we minimize a window that’s open on our PCs. So all of the apps you’ve used will still be open and eventually make the iPad sluggish because so much memory is used. To close the apps, double click the button to open the folder of current apps at the bottom of the screen. You can click any app to reopen it. Or to close them, touch and hold any app icon – it will begin to jiggle! Then touch the tiny x in the corner to close each one.Locking apps – You can lock the students into an app that is accessed with a code. That way, they can’t go searching and opening other things when you’re not looking or keeps them on task independently. Go to Utilities and open Settings. In Settings, on the larger menu on the right, choose Accessibility. In Accessibility, choose Guided Access and slide the lock to turn it on. Set a passcode that you will remember. Close the Settings and go to a folder then choose an app and open it. TRIPLE click the button. A frame with Guided Access will come up around the app window. Select start in the corner and the Guided Access will be activated. Students cannot leave that app now. I couldn’t make this work for an individual game though!Counting and Place ValueApp IconLinkDescriptionCost content is aligned to common core standards.
