God made each of us with a capacity to love and be loved. We have a longing in our heart that cannot be satisfied with anything else but the love of God. The greatest thing we can do to make God happy is to love Him back. Putting God first in our lives is an ongoing commitment. When we love God we look forward to spending time daily thanking, praising and simply adoring Him. It means placing our trust in Him. This year while the students have a variety of prayer experiences in their classrooms, parents will also have the opportunity of prayer experiences through our Partners in Prayer monthly series beginning in October. Parents will discover how to create their own sanctuary space while learning a different prayer experience each month. We have updated our Adult Ed library and parents are welcome to stop by the Adult Ed Room and check out any books that are available. The parish also offers retreats, bible study, prayer groups, and other events, which can deepen your spiritual growth Besides loving God, we are also asked to “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Mark 12:31. One way we canshow our love for one another is through acts of service. Sts Joachim and Ann PSR will continue to do monthlycollections for the Care Service, and various other non-profit organizations. The PSR program will have avariety of service opportunities throughout the year, as well as smaller classroom projects. As in years past, each student will be asked to do service, no matter how young. This year we will also adding two Days ofService on October 4 and March 13 from 10:30AM-1:30PM I the cafeteria. Families can come up anytimeduring this time frame and work on a variety of service projects together. As parents, your actions are far more imitated than your words. Through your example it is so important to place God as the foundation of your life and family. Make Sunday Mass a priority for your family each week. Feeding your soul with the spiritual food of the Eucharist can really strengthen you. Our time, patience, understanding, encouragement and love are the true things, which our children really crave and need. God created each of us to love and serve Him. Know that we are here as a parish community, not simply a once a week. We want to know your needs and if there is something you would like us as a PSR family to pray for together, please let us know. Parents are always welcome to help out in the classrooms. However, you will need to complete the steps of the Safe Environment program. Thank you in advance for all those who volunteer. I look forward to a wonderful year with you and your children.Rose Wieschhaus, Director of Religious Education for ChildrenKid Mail EnvelopEMonthly kid-mail will be sent home via e-mail or with your oldest child. And the space and rest we need to recuperate-physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually-is usually pushed to the back burner. What we need is sanctuary, a place and space that allows us to reflect, rejuvenate, and restore. Parents are invited to join me once a month in discovering how to create your own sanctuary space, and to learn various prayer experiences that can be practiced at home. Each month will be a new type of prayer. We will meet in the Adult Ed Room on the following dates: October 19, November 16, December 14, January 25, February 22, March 14, and April 25.
