Spooky Nook Tournament RulesThe 2020/2021 PIAA Basketball Rules will be used except for the following modifications.ALL GAMES ARE VIDEOTAPED AND BEHAVIOR IS STRICTLY MONITOREDROSTERS AND LIABILITY WAIVERS All players must be listed on the official roster sheet coaches will turn in at the coach’s check in table. Only players on the roster can be used in any game. No additions can be made once games begin. Players can only participate on (1) team at an age/grade level/. They may play up a Division on a 2nd team. Exception to the rule is if cleared by Tournament Director previously.Each player must have completed an online-waiver prior to their first game of play. The link is provided in this informational email.UNIFORMS Teams MUST have matching uniform tops of similar style/color and a jersey number at least on back of the jersey. No player may get on the floor without a number. Teams listed 1st (Top) are the Home Team and teams listed 2nd (Bottom)are the Away Team.Tournament RulesTeams must be at the court 5 minutes prior to game time.Score Book/Team Personal at the Scorers Table must remain neutral/impartial (You are Considered Game Official if seated at the table).A minimum of four (4) players will be required to start and finish a game, or the team will forfeit that game. Games will consist of two (2) – 14 (fourteen) minute stopped clock halves. There will be NO running clocks due to score unless losing teams agrees to.Each overtime period will begin with a jump ball. 1st. Overtime is a one (1) minute stopped clock.2nd Overtime is Sudden Victory (1st Team to Score). Each team is allowed Three (3) timeouts per game (thirty (30) second timeouts). One (1) additional thirty (30) second timeout will be granted for OT. A maximum of one (1) timeout for OT can be carried over. HALFTIME will be three (3) minutes long. Teams will shoot 1 and 1 at the 10 team foul bonus. There will be no one and ones at seven (7) team fouls and no two (2) shot bonus. Players are disqualified at 5 personal fouls.Ball Sizes: boys divisions 13U-7th Grade Division and up will use the standard 29.5 ball size and 10U-4th ,11U-5th , 12U-6th grade boys & girls divisions will use the standard 28.5 ball size. TECHNICAL FOULS All technical fouls will be two (2) free throws for the opposing team and the ball out-of-bounds. Technical fouls are also counted as personal fouls. Two (2) technical fouls on a player or coach will result in automatic disqualification for the remainder of the game. A technical foul may be called for any of the following actions: FLAGRANT/FIGHTINGWhere a player makes aggressive physical contact with an opposing player, which, in the opinion of an official, may result in serious injury to the opponent. This type of foul will result in immediate disqualification of the offending player for the remainder of the game and the next schedule league/tournament game. PHYSICAL ALTERCATION Any type of physical altercation may result in removal from the building up to a one (1) year ban from the facility!VERBAL OR BEHAVIORAL Where a player or coach verbally abuses or taunts an opposing player, coach, official, or spectator. Behavioral foul examples include slamming the ball onto the floor or kicking it in frustration after a play, kicking chairs or other items along the bench or fighting. Depending on the severity of the verbal abuse or behavior, the game officials may disqualify the player/coach from the game after the first (1st) infraction. INTENTIONALWhere a player commits a physical foul that is not a legitimate attempt to directly play the ball or player. Examples are holding an opponent to stop play, pushing an opponent in the back to prevent a score when there is no chance, or committing an obvious hard foul on a player with no intention of playing the ball or player during a press to stop the clock. Team Etiquette Coaches only speak with Tournament Directors (NO PARENTS at the DIRECTORS TABLE)Teams clean up their bench area after each game*ALL Teams/Coaches Respect the HONOR CODE of playing appropriate Age/Grade level athletes on their teams. We expect all organizations to register with Integrity and Honor. NO EXCEPTIONS--- do what is right for the athlete’s overall experience.
