We're excited because it's finally time for the FREE Movies on the Plaza Series to return! Everyone can come to the Main Library at Goodwood at 7 p.m. every Friday in June. We'll play a fun movie on the BIG screen in the Outdoor Plaza that the whole family will enjoy. Feel free to bring your lawn chair or blanket to sit comfortably while you watch. We also will simulcast the film in the Large Meeting Room for those who prefer an air conditioned option, and both screens will display captions. Local vendors and food trucks will be on site for the purchase of refreshments. Here's the movie schedule:

Red Stick Farmers Market is Back!

Red Stick Farmers Market will host a seasonal mobile market at the Main Library at Goodwood from 8 a.m. until noon every Tuesday in June. Red Stick Farmers Market is an open air, produceronly market, which ensures that all produce sold at the Market is grown locally by each farmer. With more than 50 member farmers, it offers a variety of locally grown products, including fresh fruits, local plants, herbs and vegetables, plus meats, seafood, artisan breads, homemade pies, honey, milk and cheese and specialty food items. Cash, credit, debit and Louisiana Purchase EBT/SNAP benefits cards all are accepted for payment at every location of the Red Stick Farmers Market.

The Library Road Show is on Metro 21!

The Library Road Show is a 30-minute, once-a-month television show that features news, events, services and programs available through the East Baton Rouge Parish Library. FREE Concert Featuring Paraguayan Harpist Nicolas Carter!

Come to the Main Library at Goodwood for a FREE concert featuring internationallyacclaimed harpist Nicolas Carter! Everyone is invited to the Library at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 15, to experience a performance of the Paraguayan harp that integrates an extensive repertoire of Latin American harp music with humorous storytelling.

Federation of Greater Baton Rouge Civic Associations Meeting

The Federation of Greater Baton Rouge Civic Associations will hold its monthly meeting at the Main Library at Goodwood at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 13. Federation Board Director Ed Lagucki will lead a slideshow presentation sharing the results of the Federation's recent membership survey. Lagucki also will present information on how the Federation plans to inform impacted member associations of pending Planning Commission and Board of Adjustment meeting agenda items, which address developments/projects located in and around their subdivisions. *Learn How to Make Lentil Stew

Do you love lentils? Maybe you'd like to try them? Come to the Jones Creek Regional Branch at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 15, for a FREE culinary presentation led by recipe designer and motivational speaker Lorretta Duplantis, along with food enthusiast Damien Tullier! The pair will cook up Tullier's ground lentil stew, discuss the corresponding biblical inspiration for each ingredient, and then give adults the chance to sample the savory dish. Be sure to register!

*Innovation Space Badging Classes

The Bluebonnet Regional Branch Innovation Space has various tools you can use to create something awesome! The Space features audio/visual (A/V) equipment like a GoPro, Sennheiser microphones, a Yamaha mixer, green screens, instrument cables and XLR cables available for patron use. If you want to learn how to use them on your own, join other adults and teens ages 12 and up at the Library for a tutorial. Another tool is the 3D printer, which can be used by patrons to print things like an iPhone case, earrings, toys and more. To learn how, adults and teens ages 12 and up can attend an informative training course. Registration is required for all sessions. To register, visit the online events calendar at . Adults, All Ages Beats 101

Have you got tunes ringing in your ears, and want to learn how to put them together for everyone to enjoy? Come to the Bluebonnet Regional Branch Innovation Space at 4 p.m. Thursday, June 20, for a FREE tutorial on creating original songs with GarageBand by Apple! We'll work with virtual drums, keyboards, guitars and other instruments to make your unique sound, and then we'll upload the song to Audacity for editing. No experience needed, and all supplies will be provided. This workshop is for ages 12 and up.

Cut the Cord with Kanopy

Tired of paying for cable? Adults can come to the Bluebonnet Regional Branch at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 15, for Cut the Cord a FREE seminar that will cover the basics and benefits of switching from cable television to streaming video subscriptions. Attendees also will learn how they can take advantage of the Library's free resources including Kanopy for streaming films.

Introduction to Linux

What is Linux? It's a family of open source operating systems that serve as an alternative to Windows on any computer. Adults can come to the Carver Branch at 5 p.m. Wednesday, June 19, for a FREE tutorial on the basics of Linux. It's easy to use, is updated constantly and is completely free to everyone!

*FREE Self-Defense Tactics Class

Sergeant Antonio Carter of the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office will be at the Jones Creek Regional Branch at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 13, to lead a FREE self-defense presentation for adults that will cover techniques that can be helpful in the event of a threat or attack.

Telescope Training Class

Adults can come to the Main Library at Goodwood at 8 p.m. Thursday, June 6, for a brief presentation on how to use and care for the Library's Dobsonian telescope. This telescope also is available to borrow. All that's required is attendance at the training class and your Library card.

Get Your Life Right with Torey White Series

Are there aspects of your life that you'd like to see improve? If you said yes, you'll want to join other adults at the Eden Park Branch at 5 p.m. Monday, June 24, for "Goals and Habits" a FREE presentation led by Torey White. Get tips and strategies that can help you reach your goals.

The Louisiana Master Gardeners program is a service and educational activity offered by the Louisiana State University (LSU) AgCenter. Representatives from this group will be at the Library this month to present FREE two-part classes for adults on varying gardening topics. Adults can come to the Fairwood Branch from 9:30 until 11:30 a.m. Saturday, June 8, to take advantage of FREE and individual counseling offered by the Pro Bono Project of the Baton Rouge Bar Association. Area attorneys will be available for one-on-one, 15-minute sessions for legal advice on a first-come, first-served basis.

Ask a Lawyer: Estate Planning Seminar

Adults are welcome at the Main Library at Goodwood at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, June 22, for a FREE panel-style seminar on estate planning. Volunteer attorneys will be available to answer questions about wills, successions, power of attorney and trusts. The attorneys will address inquiries related to estate planning only; all other legal questions can be covered at the monthly Ask a Lawyer program during a FREE 15-minute session for legal advice on a first-come, first-served basis. All Ask a Lawyer opportunities are offered by the Pro Bono Project of the Baton Rouge Bar Association.

Join the Job Club Networking Group!

The Career Center of the East Baton Rouge Parish Library is sponsoring an ongoing search and networking group for adult job seekers in professional careers. Job searching can be a lonely and discouraging activity, and this group will provide you with a safe space to meet and network with likeminded professionals who are challenged by the same job hunting process. Attendees will share job search experiences, network tips and encouragement, and they'll learn the latest job search techniques and so much more. Patrons are welcome to join us at the Main Library at Goodwood from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. every Friday in June. It's FREE and open to those in professional careers who are seeking employment. Last month, the Career Center kicked off its annual FREE sevenweek Cool Careers Series for teens and 20-somethings with a program all about scholarships!
