Office Title: Sign Production Project Manager

Civil Service Title: Community Coordinator

Work Location: The Arsenal, Manhattan

Duration: 7 months

Salary: $30.10/hr.

NYC Parks is the steward of over 30,000 acres of land — 14 percent of New York City — including more than 5,000 individual properties ranging from Coney Island Beach and Central Park to community gardens and Greenstreets. We operate more than 800 athletic fields and nearly 1,000 playgrounds, 1,800 basketball courts, 550 tennis courts, 67 public pools, 51 recreational facilities, 15 nature centers, 14 golf courses, and 14 miles of beaches. We care for 1,200 monuments and 23 historic house museums. We look after 600,000 street trees, and two million more in parks. We are New York City's principal providers of recreational and athletic facilities and programs. We are home to free concerts, world-class sports events, and cultural festivals.

NYC Parks has launched a citywide signage upgrade in our 5,000-plus properties across five boroughs. The goal of the program is to standardize the content, design, material, placement, and installation of signs to create a more welcoming environment. The Marketing and Special Events division of NYC Parks is seeking a sign production project manager with design experience to assist in the planning and execution of a citywide signage upgrade.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage the implementation of a citywide signage upgrade, including site visits, surveys and project management of sign rollout.

• Work within NYC Parks’ brand guidelines to execute some production-level design of agency signage, including regulatory,

wayfinding, history, and public art signs.

• Serve as the primary liaison with agency sign coordinators, verifying content, sign type assignment and placement

• Maintain online catalog of sign types and specifications, as well as agency signage design guidelines

• Create new processes and build efficient workflows to further streamline sign production

• Develop and maintain production schedules, spreadsheets, and designs

• Organize, analyze and format raw data to inform production

• Manage seasonal surveyors who will visit Parks locations to plan for and confirm sign content and installation

• Review and route sign requests in agency project management system

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities; or

2. High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or

3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to “1” above.

PREFERRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s Degree

• 3-5 years of full-time paid experience as a project manager or similar role.

• Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.

• Excellent writing, communication and organizational skills.

• Attention to detail and ability to work on multiple projects with tight deadlines.

• Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently.

• Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite in a Mac environment.

• NYS driver’s license.

Residency in New York City, Nassau, Orange, Rockland, Suffolk, Putnam or Westchester counties required for employees with over two years of city service. New York City residency required for all other candidates.

Fees: Hired candidates will be subject to a processing fee of $68.00. Hired candidates who are not currently employed

by the City will be subject to an $88.25 background check fee.
