ORGANIZATION DESCRIPTIONThe South East Bronx Neighborhood Centers (SEBNC) is a nonprofit multi-service agency, with strong community roots that has been serving in the Morrisania section of the Bronx since 1929. We offer programs and services for all ages, including infants, school-aged, young adults and the developmentally disabled. SEBNC evolved from Council House, a project of the National Council of Jewish Women (NCWJ) that began in the 1930's. During the early 1940's the population in the Southeast Bronx shifted dramatically to a predominantly African American constituency. At that juncture the NCJW invited a group of leaders to assume responsibility for what was then called Forest Neighborhood House.
