About the Homework Hotline

Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology's Homework Hotline is a FREE math and science tutoring service for Indiana students in grades 6 ? 12.

About our tutors

Tutors are Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology students who are recommended by Rose-Hulman faculty for their technical knowledge and ability to communicate clearly. The Homework Hotline has about 150 tutors on staff, and more than 30 are available to answer calls and online requests each night. All of the Hotline's tutors are certified by the National Tutoring Association.

Tutors do not give answers but guide students through homework problems to help them better understand math and science concepts. They have access to current, state-adopted math and science textbooks, computers and the Internet.

Program history

The Homework Hotline started in 1991 as a free community service for students in Vigo County. Today, the Homework Hotline extends its free math and science homework help and educational resources to students in grades 6 ? 12 statewide.

Our stats

The Homework Hotline had another outstanding year, answering 36,906 calls and conducting a record 3,767 online tutoring sessions during the 2012 ? 2013 school year. Eighty-three percent of the requests were for math assistance.

The Homework Hotline is open to students Sunday through Thursday, September through May. Tutors are available between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. Eastern Time. Students calling from counties following Central Time should plan accordingly.
