Star of the Week

Next Week Your Child will be a Star!

[pic]

Dear Family,

Your child has been selected as next week’s Star Student of the Week! Enclosed in the Star Student book bag you will find the following items which need to return to class except for the “Star Student Goody Bag”:

← “Read All About Me” Poster

← Art Supplies: crayons, markers

← Red Plastic Folder with Parent Letter

← Star Student Goody Bag

While your child is the Star Student, each day of the week will consist of an exciting event or activity to honor him or her and to help us get to know our special classmate.

Monday: Sharing Sack

A small backpack has been sent home with your child to use as the “sharing sack.” Please help your child collect special items from home with which to fill the bag, and send it back to school with your child on Monday to share with his or her classmates. Try to encourage your child to choose items that have some sort of meaning rather than just a collection of toys.

Tuesday: Poster Share

Your star student has a poster to color and fill in called the “Read All about Me” poster. Please feel free to use the crayons and markers provided in the Star Student book bag. Make sure the poster is colorful and completely filled out before turning it in on Monday. The poster will be displayed on our Star Student of the Week bulletin board and will be shared with the class on Tuesday.

Wednesday: Favorite Picture Book

Your star student will need to bring one of his or her favorite picture books to read to the class (or have the teacher read to the class).

Thursday: Parent Letter

Parents, you will write a letter to the class telling us how special your child is to you. Send the letter in a sealed envelope to school with your child, and I will read the letter to the class. The content of the letter is up to you, but you may want to choose from one of the following ideas:

← Describe special or funny stories about your child for the class to hear

← Write a silly or serious poem about your child

← Tell us some neat things we may not know about your child

← Send silly or special pictures with a letter describing the pictures

← Write a short story with your child as the main character.

Friday: Star Friends

Your star student will be presented with a friendship poster created by his or her classmates. The poster will include the Star’s picture, surrounded by compliments written by his or her classmates.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions about the exciting upcoming week! You may reach me at school at (305) 354-2600 ext. 3231. You may also send me an email at msanchez7@

Sincerely,

Ms. Sanchez
