Millennium Radio and Shoprite present the “Tri-County Spelling Bee”

Northfield, NJ – Millennium Radio and Shoprite are proud to announce that the “Tri-County Spelling Bee” is scheduled to take place at The Richard Stockton College in Pomona on Saturday, March 12th, 2011.

The competition will be hosted by radio personalities Heather DeLuca from SoJO 104.9 WSJO , Eddie Davis from Lite Rock 96.9  WFPG and Joe Kelly from Cat Country 107.3  WPUR.  Charles Wray, adjunct Professor at Atlantic Cape Community College will be the official pronouncer for the competition.  Judges will include Elinor Mattern, Professor at Atlantic Cape Community College and Writer/Blogger for ESPN, AJ Mass.

 

The event will feature 35 students, eighth grade or younger, from schools throughout Atlantic, Cape May and Cumberland County. Each student will appear at the Tri-County Spelling Bee as representative and champion of his/her school.  The Tri-County Spelling Bee Champion will receive a trip to The Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington DC, a $100 Savings Bond, an encyclopedia membership, and Amazon gift cards all courtesy of Scripps. 

Michael Ruble, Market Manager of Millennium Radio’s Atlantic City stations states: “The Tri-County Spelling Bee is a long-standing tradition in South Jersey and Millennium Radio is proud to help bring this important event back in 2011.  This is something very special for the students in our community and we’re thrilled to be a part of it!”

Student registration will begin at 8am and the Bee will begin at 9:30am.  The event is open to the public and admission is free.

In addition to Millennium Radio Group and Shoprite, Tri-County Spelling Bee is also made possible with help of NJ Best, Waterproofing Pros, and Ocean City Library.
