The various lenses on a microscope make the specimen appear much larger, or magnified, much more than the human eye can observe on its own. ? They help move the stage up/down and bring the specimen into focus so it can be observed in detail. ? What are the three magnification levels on a microscope's objective lenses? 4x, 10x, and 40x.
