GATOR NEWS Telephone (410) 880-5900 Fax (410) 880-5902 gces January 8, 2016 Vol. 18 No. 16Principal’s CornerDear Gorman Crossing Families and Friends, Happy New Year! What a great first week of 2016. We were excited to open the doors to our students on Monday and to hear about their time off! It doesn’t exactly feel like winter out there, but at some point, there may be snow in the forecast. At this time of year, it’s important to make sure you have a plan in place for weather events. If there is a 2 hour delay, school will open at 11:15. All busses should come 2 hours after their usual pick up time. This will be announced on television and via county email. If schools are closed, this will be announced on television and via county email by 7:00 a.m. If a weather event is predicted to happen during the school day, please make sure that you are receiving emails from the county and from Gorman Crossing so that you will be notified of an early school closing. The school will NOT call parents to let them know of closings. If school closes early, all afterschool events are cancelled. It is important to plan ahead for where your child should go in the event of an early school closing, as we want to get our staff home safely, too.During the winter months, we try to get outside as much as possible. Indoor recess will occur if it is below freezing and/or if there is a significant wind chill. Please make sure that your child has proper clothing for the weather.? This includes hats, gloves, and winter coats.? If you need assistance with any of these items, please call the school and we can help.? Stay Warm!Sincerely, Deborah Caldwell, Principaldeborah_caldwell@410-880-5900?
