COURSE DESCRIPTION
• Business Typing II is designed for students who wish to achieve employable levels of keyboarding and document formatting skills. This course will train students for advance operation of the keyboard by touch with good speed and accuracy. Students will learn to follow both oral and written directions with minimal assistance. Students will expand on business forms, letter, report and table typing skills. More advanced features such as mail merge, wizard and other business and office necessities will be explored. Students will achieve employable levels of speed and accuracy and will receive intensive computer training as it relates to keyboarding and word processing skills.

Periods per Week: Five

• Century 21 Keyboarding and Information Processing, Copyright 2000, South-Western.
• Additional handouts/worksheets distributed by the teacher.
I. Learning Objective:
A. Increase table typing skills
1. To improve skill in arranging material in tabulated form.
B. Speed and Accuracy Development
1. Increase straight copy skills.
2. Develop good grammar and punctuation skills.
3. Maintain a good production rate when typing letters in a times situation.
C. Proofreading
1. Thoroughly proofread all work so that it is free from all errors.
2. Interpret proofreader’s marks in order to correctly type from a rough draft copy.
D. Typing script and statistical copy
1. To improve manuscript and report typing skills.
2. To learn guides for capitalization and correcting errors.
3. To enlarge and extend typing and production skills on letters with tables, memos and reports.
4. To review basic letter styles.
5. To maintain straight copy typing skills.
E. Formatting and typing business letters
1. Students will produce a personal note, attractive business letter and properly address an envelope.
2. Students will type letters using a specific letter and punctuation style.
3. Students will type various forms frequently used in business.
4. Students will type a two page report with reference page.
F. Alignment
1. Students will align columns and rows by using the tabulation process in MS Word.
2. Students will use the alignment features in MS Word to properly format tables.
G. Outline
1. Students will use the outline feature in MS Word to complete the typing of an outline.
H. Following directions
1. Students will follow both oral and written directions exactly on all exercises.
I. General
1. Students will develop office skills needed to obtain an entry-level position.
