TRANSCRIPTS

TRANSCRIPTS

A transcript contains the following information:  school name and address, CEEB number, student's demographics, GPA and rank, graduation plan, course titles, semester grades and credits.  There are two types of transcripts:  official and unofficial.  The only difference is that an official transcript bears the signature of the registrar and is embossed with the school seal.  Admissions offices require an official transcript. For college visits, the student takes an unofficial transcript.

According to the State of Texas Revised Minimum Standards for the Academic Achievement Record, Section 1.2 Rights of Access to the Academic Achievement Record, paragraph b: "The words Official Copy imply that the AAR is transmitted directly from the school to the authorized requesting institution without the possibility of alteration.  A transcript copy should be marked or stamped Official Copy only at the time of its authorized release to another institution or student-approved recipient, excluding parents.  This stamp is never put on the original file document and is not placed on the copy provided to the student or family."

TRANSCRIPT ORDERS:  Transcript orders are placed with the registrars in the front office (1025/1026).  Transcripts which can be sent electronically are free. Those mailed will cost $2.00. All transcript orders are placed with the Registrar, not through a Counselor.

COUNSELOR RECOMMENDATIONS:  Students needing a counselor recommendation will need to schedule a senior lunch appointment with their counselor.  They will need to bring a completed senior information sheet to the appointment. The counselor will complete the report form or write the letter within two weeks and mail or submit electronically.

TEACHER RECOMMENDATIONS:  The student should submit the following to the teacher:  a stamped envelope (addressed to the college, with the KHS address as the return address), completed senior information sheet, full legal name, and the date by which the recommendation must be received by the college.  Teachers will mail these directly to the college or scholarship program. Please allow two weeks for teachers to complete their portion.

MID-YEAR REPORTS:  Paper forms should be submitted to the registrars and cost two dollars per form, payable when submitting form.  Electronic forms can be completed by the counselor. Please confirm with the counselor that the form has been received.

FINAL TRANSCRIPTS:  Every college requires a final transcript to prove high school graduation.  Orders will be taken during the month of May in the registrar's office .  A final transcript is sent only to the college you plan to attend.  There is a two dollar fee. Final transcripts will be mailed upon completion in early June.
