Old Business:(School Improvement Plan Money) (Mid Year Budget and Money Received from the County)Mr. Espiritu asked Mr. Gangwisch if he could share the budget with us.Mr. Gangwisch stated that it was too premature to give a detailed budget report at this time. For example, the teacher credit cards haven’t been reconciled yet. The cards expire on April 30th. Some of our students that we have will be going back to Independence next year. I’m thinking about doing a Pre-K (1/2 day).Ms. Moore stated that Ms. Bittick tried to get a Pre-K and it costs too much money.Mr. Gangwisch stated that he wanted Ms. Spivey to share any budget information with us that she could at this time.Ms. Spivey said that Fund 145 has $1,268.23 in it, as of today.Coach Weisberg asked if we could take teacher proposals from teachers for the amount in Fund 145.New Business: (School Improvement Plan for 2020-2021)Mr. Espiritu asked Mr. Gangwisch to share any student data with us that will help us when creating a SIP for next year.Mr. Gangwisch stated that we just got done with mid-year projections. All grade level teachers attend weekly meetings with the instructional coaches and administration. During these meetings, data is utilized to make instructional shifts with the intention of closing achievement gaps. Teachers plan as a grade level weekly focusing on the target skills, strategies, and standards mastery to the depth and rigor of Florida State Standards for all students. As a result, and according to school wide ELA data, we have grown in both the category of learning gains from 61% to 63% and in the category of our bottom 25% learning gains went from 50% to 51% when compared to last year’s data. ELA data is down in comparison to last year from 74% to 68% and Math data is down in comparison to last year from 60% to 56%. In order to combat this drop in proficiency, we have put several things in place. We began a morning tutoring program for our ELL students to equip them with the skills necessary to use their accommodations and help them with vocabulary. We have a reading challenge and a digital math spiral course that will be going on during our spring break. We will begin using the Ready instruction books by Curriculum Associates. These books target each standard in isolation so students are able to review each concept. A tutoring program, funded by Orlando Urban League for students who received a 1 or a 2 on the FSA ELA, will begin and that will target reading skills and strategies to help our students better who are struggling with comprehension. In January, we began a school-wide Reflex Math challenge. We are piloting a new Math curriculum through a Math Intervention block in 3rd grade. In April, we will have a FSA Math spiral review for grades 3rd – 5th, four days a week. With these changes implemented, we project that our proficiency will meet the standard of last year while our learning gains will continue to grow in both the bottom 25% and the overall student body.Ms. Turner stated that we are putting posters up in the hallways to incentivize math. Kids can attempt the poster. They can try to dethrone the leader of the poster. The 5th grade patrols are the monitors.Mr. Koss stated that you can actually see how the students’ fluency is increasing by using Reflex Math. There is a trophy that is built out of Legos. There is a competition going on and the trophy is passed from class to class.Mr. Espiritu wanted to know where we were with EngageNY.Ms. Turner stated that she already e-mailed teachers to voluntarily sign up to serve on our school’s Math Committee team. This team will help with EngageNY because it is going to take a group effort. There are a lot of things to do such as setting up labs.Coach Weisberg asked about our schoolwide writing.Mr. Gangwisch stated that we will have to see when the results come in. We think we’ll see an improvement. Teachers have done a great job.Coach Weisberg asked if the results will be in by May.Mr. Gangwisch stated that he hoped so. Everything is data driven.Mr. Espiritu stated that our next meeting would be April 8th.Coach Kyle made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 8:22 a.m.Ms. Moore seconded the motion. ................
