Absolute Monarch Biography interview

Absolute Monarch Biography interview

Length: 2-3 pages. Typed double spaced font 12.

You just got out of journalism school and landed a job working for the highly acclaimed magazine “Absolute Monarchs Quarterly.” Your boss has decided that you are the perfect candidate to write this quarter’s biography. You can interview this person, write a biography, or an exposé.

To do this, you are going to pick one of the Absolute Monarchs from chapter 5 in your text book, interview them, and write a 2-3 page (double spaced, size 12 Times New Roman font) article for the magazine. (You may also write this in publisher format as a pamphlet or an article, to do this write your paper in the font/size expected then transfer it to whatever other format you’re using. Remember that this will look much different if it’s pasted into columns in a magazine article format) THIS SHOULD LOOK LIKE INTERVIEWS YOU SEE IN POPULAR MAGAZINES OR NEWSPAPERS.

Example:

Richardson: Your Majesty, I’m here today to ask you about your as Holy Roman Emperor. May I ask you a few questions?

FW : I suppose, peasant, but don’t take up too much of my time.

Richardson: Uh, ok, thanks. How did you become Holy Roman Emperor?

FW: I was elected to my post as Holy Roman Emperor when my peer princes realized that I was the best man for the job.

You would then continue on in this manner until the interview is concluded. You should start the interview with a little bit of an introduction that mentions where you had to go, who you talked to, what you were going to talk about, etc.

Please make sure that you’ve covered all the information below. Ask them questions about their reign; their personal lives, their country, etc. Make sure that the answers that your monarchs give are correct for the person responding.

You should include birth and death information, when and how they came to power, any “fun facts” about them (are they insane, do they impale people on sticks, do they bathe in blood, how many people did they have killed, etc.) You should also include other information about their reign as monarch. What did they do for their country? Were they reformers? If so, what reforms did they make? Did they rule with an iron fist or were they considered enlightened? Etc.

Include pictures of the leader and the country they led as the title page of your paper or title of your article. This does not count towards the 2-3-page total. You also need to cite any sources that you used on a works cited page. This also does not count towards your page total. You need 2-3 pages of information about ‘your’ monarch.

Format choices: (Pictures don’t count towards your word count/ page length requirements.)

Paper – 12 font, Times New Roman, 2-3 pages double spaced MLA format

Magazine/Newspaper Article – Set up in columns that include text wrap with images. This will not have MLA formatting. Instead it will have a byline, a title, a date and a volume number (1 in this case).

You may use the internet, your text, any class notes, or outside texts. Any sources have to be sited at the end of the paper/article. YOU MAY NOT USE: Wikipedia*, , chacha, ask.fm, yahoo answers, or any other random answer/unmoderated site. You may use Wikipedia as a place to find basic information or to get to other sources.
