Treasurer’s Report: Rachel mentioned that we received a check for $71 from Art to Remember for the fundraiser. We recently paid $170 for insurance and $1,045 for last year’s yearbooks. Principal’s report: Mr. Lieberman said things have been a little bit quieter since everyone is currently fully virtual. He mentioned that the diversity committee meeting did not have a good turnout so it was rescheduled for the second week of January. If anyone is interested in joining the committee to please let him know. Mr. Lieberman also mentioned that Mrs. O’Neill had a good idea for a school wide read aloud as it was successful in her school district. Rachel O’Neill then talked about how her school also included a sing along that was hard to do virtually. It would be a Zoom webinar format and Mr. Lieberman has a grade level meeting to discuss it further. Mr. Lieberman said that Mrs. Schwam came up with some fun activities for the kids to play during their virtual holiday parties next week. There will be more information available in this week’s email blast. He asked us to talk to families and if anyone had a need of any kind to please let him know so the school can support them. Mr. Lieberman talked about celebrating Kindness in January and having themed days. He also said that he and Mrs. Schwam would visit each class the Thursday and Friday beforehand to talk and maybe play a Kahoot game. Lastly, he mentioned that there will not be an email blast next Friday due to the shortened school week. Teacher Liaisons- Mrs. Grant gave a big Thank you to the parents for all they do and their support during this crazy time. She knows we all have a lot on our plates and but the teachers all really appreciate us helping out. Old Business:Drive In: Big Thank you to Brunswick Memorial who very generously donated $200 towards the expense of the movie nightScholastic Book Fair- Afansa Aziz considering that this fair was once again virtual we did fairly well. We made a profit of a little over $200. Boscov’s (Robyn) It was a tough fundraiser during Covid. We mad a $35 profit during their Friends helping friend’s sale. Halloween Virtual Parties (Jess/Rachel/Robyn) Danielle Oviedo said for Mrs. Faust’s class they did their first virtual party and they did their best. She is struggling with idea for the holiday party. Danit said they did a great job! Mr. Lieberman said he will reach out to the teachers to see what they can do for the party. Care cart donations: Mrs. Schwam is still collecting items. Mrs. Grant said the cart is the best and is so appreciated by all of the staff. New business:Dine to Donate (Robyn) Buffalo Wild Wings in Marlboro on Sunday, January 3rd we will be Winging in the New Year! BWW will give us 20% for take-out or in the restaurant from 11am until 10pm Dine to Donate (Robyn) We have a Scoop to My Lou event in the works and are open to any and all suggestions for other restaurants, etc. Membership- Membership is down significantly. Please talk to your friends to get others involved. Spirit Wear: (Robyn) We have been delayed due to Covid and hope to have our order completed soon. Other stores using the same vendor are also experiencing problems. Creative Holiday wear contest: Students can make or wear a holiday outfit and upload their video to Flipgrid. One student will win a $10 gift card to Scoop to My Lou. Mr. Lieberman mentioned that the Student Council will also be having a Gingerbread Contest that Miss Balzofiore will run. More info will be available in the next email blast. Box Tops and Amazon Smile: (Melissa) March is the deadline for the next paper box tops submission. You can turn them in when we are back in school and most of them are scanned via the app and receipts. Amazon Smile you can add the Bowne-Munro PTA to your charity on Amazon (Smile) and we will receive 0.5% of qualified purchases. 5th Grade Committee (Rachel) t-shirts have been ordered by the same company as the spirit wear so hopefully we will receive them soon. We have only received 23 Activity fees so far for the 5th grade class which is down a lot from last year. Discount Card (Doreen) So far we have sold $380 worth of cards. Last year we sold $1500. They will be available the whole school year and they are $20 each. 5th Grade basketball game vs. staff will not be able to happen this year. They are thinking of new ideas to replace the game like Dodgeball outside instead of the basketball game. Yearbook: We can email pictures to the Bowne-Munro PTA to be included in this years yearbook since we are not able to hold the typical events. We can grab pictures from Twitter, too. Suggestions (Robyn) She mentioned that we are open to all suggestions for fundraisers and events for the year as we are having a tough time during the Virtual year. District News: EBHS is sponsoring a contactless drive-thru Toy Drive on Saturday, December 19th. EBPL Public Library has a Matchbook program where you fill out your child’s interests and they will include 2-10 books in a bag for contactless pick up.East Brunswick Helping Each Other page is available on FB for questions and answers.
