VFD Chief Freddie Broome Receives Certification from GAFC On April 12, 2016, City of Valdosta Fire Chief Freddie Broome joined 14 fellow chiefs as one of the first certified by the Georgia Association of Fire Chiefs (GAFC) during the association's 2016 Spring Executive Training Session in Savannah. Valdosta-The City of Valdosta will observe National Drinking Water Week, May 1-7, 2016. Valdosta Mayor John Gayle will kick off the national observance in Valdosta on Monday, May 2, at 1 p.m., by presenting a proclamation to the Water Treatment Plant staff at the 3863 Guest Road plant location. The plant was named the 2013 Water Treatment Plant of the Year by the Georgia Association of Water Professionals (GAWP) in the category for groundwater systems that pump over 10 million gallons daily (MGD).

It's not Europe but America that is necessary for a Free World

President Barack Obama's got it wrong. It's not a strong and united Europe that is "a necessity for the world" but a strong and united America. `Because without America, there is no Free World' is a truth not just proudly carried on the Canada Free Press masthead, but an irrefutable truth in saving the West. Making it to the shores of America to raise children in an atmosphere of freedom and liberty was the dream of millions long before the Obama administration wiped out America's borders for the kind of migrants who do not come to America primarily to raise families. Obama hoped to extinguish the dream of coming to America during eight long years of the fundamental transformation of the greatest nation on earth. But his is a failed mission with people from other countries still teeming to settle in the U.S. even in light of its current, though temporary decline. People raising children want the best for them and know that the best can be found in America. "A strong and united Europe is a necessity for the world," Obama said in the German city of Hanover, in a landmark speech that carried the tone of a blunt challenge to friends. (AFP, April 25, 2016)

If "progress is not inevitable", neither are `progressives' like Obama and Hillary Clinton "inevitable". It began when I bought him his first pair of cowboy boots. He looked at them lovingly and wore them with great pride. Even to bed. After he fell asleep, I would quietly go into his room and remove them gently not wanting to awaken him. Michael and I "progressed" from the boots to jeans and a plaid shirt. Then a vest. Finally, a cowboy hat. Standing in front of the mirror in his room one day, he declared with pride: "I'm Cowboy Mike." At that moment in his young life, he decided who he was and what he wanted to be: he discovered his destiny by the clothes he wore and the dreams he had as he watched cowboy movies. It ended when his friends laughed at him. Each of us, at one time or another, had a dream about who

we wanted to become and what we planned to do with the life that God gave us. We wanted to bring the future into the present with carefully detailed plans and goals. We chose classes and programs of study to help us prepare for occupations that fit into our dreams. We looked forward to accomplishments that would bring us joy and happiness, satisfaction and success. For some life unfolds as planned. For others there were starts and stalls and stops. We worked hard at life.

To make the most of life, however, we must not eliminate God from our plans. He knows what is best for us because He gave us life. Writing from a cave one day David finally said, "I cry out to God Most High Who has a plan for me." It's never too late to seek His plan.
