September 2, 2020 - Galena Park Independent School District

[Pages:2]Galena Park ISD 2020-2021 Technology Distribution Plan

To support our students and families with our additional Digital Learning initiatives, we will begin checking out technology devices (Chromebooks, chargers, and protective covers) to students, in phases, for use during the school year. Until all Chromebooks which have been ordered arrive, some students will be asked to use their personal devices. Because we will be exhausting our supply of devices at the schools, students in grades 1-12 who participate in face-to-face instruction may be asked to bring their device to school as needed for instruction. The completion of the 3-phase process to issue devices (outlined below) will ensure all GPISD students will have the technology they need to be successful.

We highly recommend your child to use the GPISD district device. We will be able to add/delete apps, extensions and tools as needed. The device will also have the GPISD Internet filtering system installed.

Phase 1 Distribution: August 10, 2020

Phase 2 Distribution- Part 1: August 24, 2020

Phase 2 Distribution- (Make-up Day): September 2, 2020

We will email distribution information and checkout codes to students/families that are eligible for a device.

As additional devices become available, we will distribute one Chromebook, charger, and protective cover to students that have not already received one in a prior group.

Please make sure your parent email address is updated in Skyward. This will be the last distribution before school begins.

**Students must be fully enrolled in Galena Park ISD before a device can be checked out.

**Any damage and/or late fees from previous device checkouts must be cleared before a new device can be issued to the household.
