Rationale: To document my understanding of ITSE NET Standard 2. The teacher understands the central concepts of tools of inquiry, I have selected to include my DID Lesson Plan. It shows my ability to create and plan for instruction that supports every student in meeting rigorous learning goals. This shows my ability to draw upon knowledge of content area and curriculum. The DID Designer Sight Words Reading FluencySTEP 1 Know the Learner The class consists of First Grade students in IPS. The class has 25 students, 14 girls and 11 boys. The ethnic groups consists of 10 African American, 9 Hispanic, and 6 Caucasians. The class consists of 10 visual learners, 5 kinesthetic learners, and 10 auditory learners. The visual learners need manipulative examples. The kinesthetic learners need to be able to perform activities. Class includes 4 TAG(talented and Gifted) students, and 10 CLD (Learning Disabled)The multiple intelligences of these students are artistic and musical.The entry skills needed are that the students need to recognize decode and pronounce sight words to help them with reading fluency.They also need to know how to blend words into sentences for reading fluency STEP 2 Articulate Objectives and Standards Develop and demonstrate understanding of the five components of reading print concepts phonemics awareness, phonics, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension to build foundational skills (1.RF.1)Orally read grade-level appropriate or higher level texts smoothly and accurately with expression that connotes comprehension (1.RF.5)STEP 3 Identify Teaching and Learning Strategies Read aloud Sight Words and phrases as a classWrite Sight words in sentences as a ClassUse Sight word board game to reinforce words for kinesthetic students.Use Flashcards to practice words learned.Use inclusion strategy and collaborate with the special education department Give the CLD students a session ( 5 at a time) with Special Education Teacher for to help them in their area of need.Provide TAG students advanced lessons in the gifted area in class.STEP 4 Identify and Select Support Technologies Technology materials needed include:Flashcards Sight word lists and worksheets computer word gamesSTEP 5 Evaluate and Revise the Design Students will be evaluated on their progress through:Sight word skills work sheets when they complete class assignmentThey will write brief sentences to show recognition of the word They will read aloud a short passage and answer two questions about itThey will have weekly homework to reinforce what is learned in classRevisions will be made:All students will be assessed each week to see their progressRevisions will be made to the process and other strategies used if all students are not successfully completing the assessments.
