These rules will encompass our positive behavior plan SWARM and character development programs. We expect students to show positive behaviors such as being prepared, responsible, respectful, and receptive, along with developing positive character traits such as humility, trustworthiness, integrity, empathy, fairness, perseverance, and compassion. These rules will be posted in the classroom and referred to on a daily basis. Academic excellence and honesty are expected at all times.Homework: When our teachers assign homework, they do so because it is essential to the student to be able to have this learning opportunity to show mastery of the standard. As a result, students not turning in homework will be assigned lunch HW lab and/or grade protection system. Both of these learning interventions are designed to ensure students o complete assigned learning task. This will assist teachers in measuring student’s mastery of the standard(s) being taught. Daniell Middle School follows the make-up work policy outlined in the CCSD PolicyStrategies:Throughout the year, students will complete a variety of assignments, tasks, projects, and tests in each of the areas listed above. The point value assigned to each assignment will vary according to its rigor. Students will be expected to keep a math composition notebook and come to class with pencil and paper daily. Students will check the teacher’s BLOG daily for assignments and links.Make up work:Should your students be absent on a given day, tests and quizzes included, they will be expected to make up the assignment within three school days. “Almost There’s”Almost there’s are an opportunity for students to test what they know prior to a unit assessment. If a student scores above an 85% on the “Almost there assessment” they may exempt the Unit test and use that grade as their unit test grade. If student scores below an 85%, they will be required to take the unit touchstones test after more review in class. Test and quiz corrections:Any test and quiz grade below 70% can be corrected by student. In order to make corrections student must participate in before or after school tutoring session. Each question corrected must have correctly written work and a brief explanation of why their new answer is correct using mathematical language and vocabulary. Corrected work can receive half the points missed on each question.
