Facing History and Ourselves Spring 2016 “MOSAIC OF VICTIMS”Due: Friday, 4/29/16 IntroductionThe Nazis victimized a variety of groups, in addition to Jews, who did not fit into their narrow vision for German society. These groups included Roma (Gypsies), Poles and other Slavic peoples, Russian prisoners of war, political opponents, the mentally and physically disables, Jehovah’s Witnesses, and homosexuals. The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum refers to the groups persecuted by the Nazis as the “Mosaic of Victims.” While we have focused primarily on Jews as the primary most numerous targets of Nazi violence, it is important in any study of the Holocaust to devote some time to acknowledge and learn about the other targeted groups. InstructionsChoose 3 victim groups listed in the USHMM “Mosaic of Victims” website. Study and profile each group, and discern why the Nazis chose to persecute and even murder these people. CREATE A POSTER PRESENTATION OF YOUR RESEARCH. The poster should include the following items: Unique Title (On top of the poster)Brief synopsis of the theme: Mosaic of Victims – Give an explanation as to why the Nazis chose to persecute and kill various groups during WW2.Profiles of 3 victim groups Description of each group. Rationale for Nazi policies towards group (Why was this group targeted? What policies did the Nazis enforce against each group?)Effects of Nazi policies on group (What happened to these people as a result of the Nazi policies?)Visuals to aid in description of group and/or the persecution of group. Poster should include source citations (on back of the poster), at least 3 group profiles, and visuals. Your poster should be grammatically correct, contain no historical errors, and be aesthetically pleasing.
