Assessors will use methods to ensure that work submitted is your own work.
The following exercises are formative and the candidate should have been given prior experience of the software before starting these.
Brief 1
Create an animated face with moving features. Create all of the elements using the drawing tools, placing them on different layers then animate the mouth and the eyes making them move from left to right.
You are required to use features within a 2D digital animation package to familiarise yourself with the drawing and painting features. In addition to this you should convert at least one bitmap graphic to vector, use scenes and export files in a variety of different formats eg png, tiff, jpeg, gif/animated.
Look at the file titled smiling face and see how the animation is created and operates. You have to recreate the animation using the tutorials provided and any other online tutorials to develop your animation. The eyes must move from side to side and the mouth must go from a frown or a flat line into a smile. Use all of the tools to create each different element of the face:
• Eyes — oval tool, changing the colour using the following tools: paint bucket and ink bottle
• Hair — brush tool, changing fill colour
• Spectacles — rectangle tool
• Mouth — pencil tool
• Face outline — pen tool
• Nose — Line tool
• Eyebrows — brush tool
Make sure that you zoom in when creating each element and use the eraser tool to clean up any untidy lines. Using the checklist, make sure that you have used all of the required functions and completed all the steps.
Brief 2
Import a sketch of a game design company logo onto the canvas of your animation program. Create a new layer and trace the logo using a range of different tools as in Brief 1. Create a final folder and export the file saving it in the following formats:
• Png
• Tiff
• Jpeg
• gif/animated gif
Brief 3
Import a scan of a scene from a comic onto the stage of your file. Create a new layer and then add some text using the text tool.
Complete the following pro forma and submit your work to the tutor for assessment:
