CMHS BOOSTERS – A Tradition Of Excellence In AthleticsMinutes – March 13, 2017Date:Monday, March 13, 2017Location:Cheyenne Mountain High School – Conference RoomAttendees: Kris Roberts (AD), Beth DePeppe (President), Carey Stark (Secretary and Wrestling), Lisa Helton (AAC Representative), Melissa Waymire (Merchandise/Spirit Wear), Jamie Kratt (Girls Field Hockey and PTO Liaison), Angie Feign (Girls Soccer), Stacy Reddish (Boys Lacrosse), Sheree Ahrendsen (Volleyball and Girls Tennis), Julie Brage (Boys Basketball), Kristina Chung (Boys Soccer), Nicole Reinhardt (Baseball)Carey called the meeting to order at 12:02 p.m.February Minutes: Stacy Reddish motioned to approve the Minutes from the February meeting and Lisa Helton seconded the motion. All were in favor. President’s Report: Beth DePeppe circulated a the current 2017/2018 Tem Reps. There are still many open spots.Treasurer’s Report: Carey Stark gave Leslie’s report. There has been little activity. The $100 deposit was made from Play It Again Sports.AD’s Report: Kris discussed that Dr. Cooper presented the Cheyenne mascot to the Southern Ute tribe in Utah. The Southern Ute tribe is going to partner with the high school and plans to attend events. The characterization of the Indian will be modified and there is a distinct difference between a logo versus a mascot. 260 children are registered for the summer youth sports camp. It will most likely close at spring break. Physicals will need to be valid through the entire sports season during which the athlete is participating (it cannot expire during the season). Kris discussed the classification issue and how it is based on the enrollment piece. 6A may be added in a couple years. Stacy Reddish brought up an issue that has arisen in boys’ lacrosse where an athlete was allowed to be on the varsity team after try-outs had been completed and that athlete had not gone through the try out process (this occurred in April of 2016).Fundraising Report: Sheree discussed having a Noodles Fundraising evening (25% is given back) during a week in April. There will most likely be a collection for used sports equipment at Back-To-School Night on August 31st. There was mention of seeing if the Cheyenne Edition could run publicity about the donation.Merchandise Report: Melissa had a lot of orders for yard signs for spring sports.New Business: Susan and Carey presented the proposed Scholar Athlete scholarships to the Athletic Programs Advisory Committee. The feedback was very positive and there were some very good suggestions from the APAC. The scholarships won’t be rolled out until early 2018, so there is time to continue to modify and work on the application and selection process. Christina mentioned that it would be nice if Boosters and/or PTO bought some ping pong and foosball tables for the new cafeteria. Kris mentioned that the week of April 24th will be Youth Sports Week. Golden Tickets have been given out to the JH students and elementary students.Old Business: The gym sound system has been installed. Intramurals at the elementary schools are being re-designed. There will be three week seasons with co-ed volleyball, flag football and basketball. The slate of nominations was presented for the 2017/2018 year: Susan Taylor and Carey Stark – Presidents; Vice President (Open); Leslie Nordyke – Treasurer; Cathryn Lewis – Secretary; Melissa Waymire – Merchandise Representative; Lisa Helton – APAC Representative; Jamie Kratt – Website Chairperson; Kelly Sung – K-12 Spirit; PTO Representative (Open); and Community Chairperson (Open). Amy Chaffin made a motion to approve the slate of officers for the 2017/2018 year and Stacy Reddish seconded the motion. All were in favor.The meeting adjourned at 1:20 p.m. ................
