PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Oversee and perform accounting functions related to district accounts, including the implementation and maintenance of an organizational accounting structure adequate for achieving the school district's goals and objectives. Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures. Issue timely and complete financial statements. Perform supervisory duties related to assigned areas of business operations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Master's Degree and/or Certified Public Accountant (preferred) TASBO Certification (preferred)

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Working knowledge of financial applications and accounting Strong organizational, communication, public relations and interpersonal skills Ability to use software to develop spreadsheets and perform data analysis Ability to interpret and implement policy, procedures, and data Ability to develop and manage budget and personnel

Experience:

Five (5) years of accounting experience (Texas public school district or governmental preferred) Skyward Finance system experience (preferred)

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Accounting

1.

Maintain complete and systematic records of district's financial transactions.

2.

Record details of financial transactions in appropriate journals and subsidiary ledgers.

3.

Maintain subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, and posting transactions.

4.

Maintain general ledger by transferring subsidiary account summaries.

5.

Examine all computerized general ledger transactions daily for accuracy; make corrections as

needed and inform the ASFO.

6.

Balance general ledger and subsidiary accounts by reconciling entries.

7.

Work with bank officials to make inquiries and resolve discrepancies in account records.

8.

Transfer funds between accounts as directed by the ASFO.

9.

Reconcile bank accounts monthly and present bank and general ledger balances to the ASFO

monthly.

10.

Prepare monthly financial statements and related budget reports to be reviewed by the ASFO for

presentation to board.

11.

Maintain physical and computerized files and records.

12.

Prepare all budget adjustments, additions, and deletions for review by the ASFO.

13.

Review all purchase orders and check requests and maintain control of budget by verifying

availability of funds.

14.

Develop and edit semi-annual finance information for submission of data to TEA for PEIMS.

15.

Prepare and submit federal financial reports for all federal funds, including internal reports for

program directors. Monitor and track time and effort reporting for all federal funds.

16.

Oversee accounting for Campus Activity Funds. Supervise associated employees in related

area.

17.

Oversee accounts payable, workers' compensation and travel authorization functions.

Supervise associated employees in related areas.

18.

Oversee Fixed Asset accountability program development and implementation. Supervise

associated employees in related area.

19.

Assist ASFO in preparing and managing the annual budget.

20.

Coordinate the provision of information to the external auditors for the annual audit.

21.

Comply with local, state and federal government reporting requirements and filings.

22.

Develop, maintain and administer internal auditing controls within the school district.

Occasional districtwide and statewide travel; occasional prolonged and irregular hours; frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing and pulling; prolonged use of computer and repetitive hand motions; occasional lifting up to 50 pounds

Any work-related experience or additional education/training resulting in acceptable proficiency levels in the above-required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be an acceptable substitute for the abovespecified education and experience requirements at the sole discretion of District Administration.
