Therefore, we will be covering standards for 6th, 7th, and 8th grades during the 6th and 7th grade year. This will include activities which will lead to an understanding of ratio concepts and the use of ratio reasoning to solve problems. They will also study the number system, which will include multiplication, division, and finding factors and multiples. Students will also write and solve expressions, equations, and inequalities. We will be relating customary and metric measurement as well as studying perimeter when we look at measurement. In Geometry, they will solve real-world problems involving area, surface area, and volume. We will also be studying statistics and probability.Supplies Needed:3-ring binder (1.5 inch)PencilsLoose leaf paperRed penOptional items-highlighter, colored pencils, glue stick,Optional items to donate for the class-kleenexes, hand sanitizer, Clorox wipes, dry-erase markersRules:Our classroom will be a community of learners, encouraging and supporting each other to achieve the greatest success possible! This will be done by circling correct answers and working out incorrect answers as we go over them. Work turned in late will only be given half credit. NotebooksNotebooks should be brought to class every day and will be graded randomly throughout the year. I will do “notebook checks” and students will be given up to 3 points for each notebook check: 1 point for having their notebook in class, 1 point for having all of their notes up-to- date, and 1 point for having their notes in order. QuizzesQuizzes will be given often to assess if a student has mastered a skill. Students will be allowed to use their notes on quizzes. (Be sure to have your notebook with you every day!!) Quiz and Test grades will worth 100 points each, unless I tell you otherwise. Test ReviewsStudents will be given completion points for Test Reviews. Work must be present with their answers. Test Reviews will not be accepted if they are late. Students will earn an automatic 0 if this is not turned in on time. This, of course, does not apply when a student has an excused absence. TestsTests will be announced at least two days before they are given. Students will also be given a Test Review in order to help them prepare for the upcoming test. Notes will not be used for the Tests. Quiz and Test grades will worth 100 points each, unless I tell you otherwise. I am looking forward to having you in my classroom!
