STEVE BURKOWSKI: Picture-perfect Thursday, as you take a look at the skyline of downtown Chicago. This area one of the great golfing Meccas, and one of the great cities to come and pay a visit. Ideal conditions. And we make our way northwest about 43 miles from downtown Chicago, Ivanhoe, Illinois. Ivanhoe Club opened in 1991 and renovated by Arthur Hills in 2003. They called it "a rebirth of a champion." The 14th of 23 regular-season events on the Tour, as the race to the PGA Tour continues. Early June on an ideal day. Temperature is mid-70s, a little bit of a breeze, nearing 10 miles per hour out of the east-northeast. Sunny blue skies, just how we like it out here on the Tour. They're off and running in the opening round. And Wes Roach is doing just that. Six under par, as he plays his final hole. Ben Taylor, a winner earlier this year in South America, continuing his good form. Josh Teater, a runner-up here a couple of years ago to Max Homa, had a chance to win in 2016. Maybe he can do one better just two years later.

00:01:52:24

TRIPP ISENHOUR: 13 now, second shot for Sebastian Cappelen on the par-4 here, with the [club swing] hole cut today in the back-left corner of the green. We've seen a variety of clubs off this tee. And a good shot there. And opportunity for birdie, a chance to get to minus-4.

00:02:09:16

GRANT BOONE: All right. Now Rodriguez at the 12th.

00:02:12:04

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Yeah. He left it in a pretty good spot here, just about pin high. He's just got one of those little knuckles he's got to come up and over.

00:02:26:29

CRAIG PERKS: Well, that's very nicely done, considering he was 5 over in his last four holes. It would have stopped the rot a little bit.

00:02:33:18

TRIPP ISENHOUR: One moment ago, Sebastian Cappelen played a nice shot. And this would be for his fifth birdie of the day to get to minus-4. All right. He made five birdies on the par-4s. He hasn't birdied a par-5 yet. He's got a couple of them coming up. Good opportunities to continue moving up that Leaderboard.

00:02:52:17

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Now back to 14, Etulain, a short birdie putt to get to 3 under.

00:03:00:08

CRAIG PERKS: A guy that has played on the PGA Tour before, graduated off this tour. So certainly, where he is currently positioned with ten events left in the regular season, in a very good spot to get back to the PGA Tour.

00:03:15:01

TRIPP ISENHOUR: Now back at 12, Kramer Hickock, his second. [club swing]

00:03:27:29

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Has played in every event so far on the Tour Season in 2018. He's made 10 of 13 cuts coming into the week, 36th on the Money List.

00:03:37:01

CRAIG PERKS: Excellent shot, right there, just underneath the flag.

00:03:41:06

STEVE BURKOWSKI: As we go back to the 12th, Langley's second. So rocky anywhere between 16 and 26 [Chuckle] will be the number you can, uh, take with you. [club swing]

00:03:51:03

CRAIG PERKS: And one of the things he's--uh, Scott's worked with Terry Rolls is predominantly hitting draws with his short irons. And his wedge game has really improved this year. Excellent shot there.

00:04:05:28

STEVE BURKOWSKI: At the 14th, the par-5, third shot for Albin Choi.

00:04:09:25

CRAIG PERKS: I think you bring this in low [club swing], skip it up the slope, a little spin.

00:04:15:14

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Oh.

00:04:15:19

CRAIG PERKS: Oh.

00:04:15:23

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Just like that.

00:04:17:06

CRAIG PERKS: Oh, why wouldn't you? [clapping] 26-year-old from Canada.

00:04:21:24

STEVE BURKOWSKI: He played his college golf at NC State, and did just as you suggested, hit it low, a little spin.

00:04:27:11

CRAIG PERKS: And had his best finish of the year last week with the event in Raleigh. Nice little symmetry there.

00:04:33:23

STEVE BURKOWSKI: So that a moment ago. Now Sebastian Cappelen. He's cruising right along, 4 under on the day, just a couple off the lead. But this eagle putt to get him to 6 under.

00:04:47:27

CRAIG PERKS: Oh! Well, three straight birdies for the 28-year-old. He played his college golf at Arkansas. He was actually the first Dane to win on the--the Tour, when he Monday-qualified in Wichita, it was his professional debut, and went out and won. Pretty impressive.

00:05:07:00

STEVE BURKOWSKI: One of those players, over the last three, four years, we're--we're waiting--

00:05:10:10

CRAIG PERKS: Yeah.

00:05:10:12

STEVE BURKOWSKI: --for the door to get knocked down. And it just seemingly gets shut back in his face.

00:05:15:06

CRAIG PERKS: Yeah. He'd have to be disappointed. 79th on the Money List last year. So outside the important Top 75. And 96th on the Money List this year. But it just takes one week. And off to a great start here.

00:05:28:22

STEVE BURKOWSKI: So Cappelen 5 under, a shot off the lead.

00:05:30:26

CRAIG PERKS: Let's take a little closer look at one of my favorite golf courses on the Tour, the Ivanhoe Club, opened in 1991. The 18 holes was designed by a local architect, Dick Nugent. Then in 1995 the Ivanhoe Club transformed to a 27-hole facility under the guidance of Arthur Hills. [Indistinct], some nasty little around here on a golf course that's just barely over 7,000 yards, and, uh, has quickly built a reputation in Illinois, actually in--inside the Top 15 from "Golf Digest's" rankings, in an area that is overflowing with great golf courses.

00:06:07:23

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Ted Potter, Junior, that course record a year ago. Eight months later, he wins at Pebble Beach.

00:06:15:20

STEVE BURKOWSKI: To the 14th, the par-5, Maverick McNealy, his second from the fairway bunker.

00:06:21:26

CRAIG PERKS: And this is the par-5. I'm not sure if he can get from this bunker all the way [club swing] to the green, although he's got tremendous speed. Close to the lip. Yeah. That's a good lead, actually. The green is open there in front, and similar to where Alvin Choi was.

00:06:41:20

STEVE BURKOWSKI: 22-year-old, playing in his eighth event on the Tour season. And these three individuals at Stanford all won 11 times. You take a look at the scoring average, not Woods, not Rogers, Maverick McNealy with the best ever in Cardinal history.

00:06:58:12

CRAIG PERKS: Yeah. Probably one of the most decorated amateur--amateur resumes in--in recent, uh, history. And the guy that spent close to a year as the number one amateur in the world.

00:07:10:05

TRIPP ISENHOUR: As we go back to 13 now, Rodriguez for birdie.

00:07:13:18

GARY CHRISTIAN: Yeah. Downhill, a little left-to-righter. Very nicely done.

00:07:22:26

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Now at 18, Vince Covello, this to end his round on a positive note.

00:07:28:13

CRAIG PERKS: A tough putt, up--up a ridge, breaking a little right late. And back left. And how about finishing 3-2-3 [clapping] on probably the three toughest holes on the golf course.

00:07:42:22

TRIPP ISENHOUR: All right, 13 now, Kramer Hickock [club swing]. Just a little wedge shot in here. Let's see if he's learned anything from Jordan Spieth and his wedge shots. He has. Nice shot. [chuckle] Nicely controlled. A nice little ball flight there. [clapping] Six feet from the hole. We head now to the par-5 15th. Sebastian Cappelen had a little trouble in the bunker. This is gonna be his fourth shot now, putting from the fringe, coming down the hill. Craig, is this a shot--you've got such a brilliant short game. But he's coming, as you can see--great job zooming in on this lie. The ball sitting just in that next cut. You can see the little grass growing with the little grain there. Would you pitch this ball so you could get it on the green with a little maybe backspin to deaden it coming down the hill? Or do you like putting it more?

00:08:27:22

CRAIG PERKS: A hundred percent of the time, I would pitch this to create a little bit of spin, because here is the slope that works, right here. And then everything funnels this way. So I'd sort of pitch it and check it, and then rele--let it release down the slope. You just don't know how a putt's gonna come out of that first cut of rough. But you take what--whatever club you're most comfortable with.

00:08:49:19

TRIPP ISENHOUR: That came out quite nicely for Cappelen, so he'll have a tap-in par. But it really--as we're seeing more and more putting around the greens these days, both on the Tour and the PGA Tour, as these closely-mown areas are not becoming chipping choices. They're becoming putting areas, basically an extension of the putting green.

00:09:10:16

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Back at 14, Hickock for birdie.

00:09:20:16

STEVE BURKOWSKI: As we look at Kramer, we see Nick Hardy, they can have the resume of all resumes in college and amateur golf. It's meaningless out here. How do they transition from that level of playing for a team to "Now I'm playing for my livelihood?"

00:09:36:27

CRAIG PERKS: Well, it was interesting. In--in Evansville, Maverick McNealy was sort of staring down Jose de Jesus Rodriguez. Rodriguez won. At the BMW, Michael Arnaud was hammered out with Robbie Shelton. Shelton was a star at, uh--at Alabama. It's just getting comfortable. Uh, it's now your job. And I think you have to treat it that way. You have to dedicate your whole day to your task. And--and just, uh--there's a lot of adjustments that need to be made once you hit the professional level.

00:10:08:16

TRIPP ISENHOUR: Well, the decisions you make as player are different. You know, when you're playing a team golf, where you're taking four out of five players, and you can't afford to have players making a big number, maybe you play a little more conservatively. And you get to professional golf, you get in that moment you need to be a little bit more aggressive.

00:10:24:05

CRAIG PERKS: Yeah. I would--I--you know, I think you're not--you're only--you're only relying on yourself. Although a lot of these guys have a team around them to rely on. But, uh, no. You're--you're posting one score. And it--that--you're accountable for that. And not necessarily you can just, you know, take your score off the board, and the other four guys, if they have played well in college golf.

00:10:50:18

GARY CHRISTIAN: Garber, the third member of this group. Just look at that head of lettuce, that hair.

00:11:00:14

CRAIG PERKS: What does that actually mean, "head of lettuce?"

00:11:03:07

STEVE BURKOWSKI: For--for those that are follically-challenged, I--I--I can't relate. [club swing]

00:11:13:24

CRAIG PERKS: He plays with a lot of freedom. And this one has a chance to go in.

00:11:17:03

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Yes, it does.

00:11:17:19

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Oh! Excellent shot. Not too technical, as Joey Garber works with Jordan Dempsey at Sea Island. [music]

00:11:28:20

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Well, we're reaching the end of our broadcast window for Opening Round coverage of the Rust-Oleum Championship. Wes Roach 6-under 66. He leads by 1. So long from Ivanhoe, Illinois.

[COMMERCIAL BREAK]

00:11:45:01

STEVE BURKOWSKI: The Tour is in Ivanhoe, Illinois for the Rust-Oleum Championship. It is the 14th of 23 regular-season events on the Tour in 2018. The Second Round is off and running. Steve Burkowski and Craig Perks with you. Some highlights from earlier in the day. Mark Anderson at the par-5 15th, this his third.

00:12:04:27

CRAIG PERKS: A good start today. At 42nd on the Money List, and a beautiful pitch shot there, set up a tap-in birdie, get him to 6 under for the tournament.

00:12:13:13

STEVE BURKOWSKI: And Anderson cruising along on this chilly Friday morning. How about Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano? His third at the par-5 9th.

00:12:20:00

CRAIG PERKS: Yeah. Drove it in the rough, so had to lay up with the second. A lengthy third. Listen, he birdied the 5th, made a hole-in-one at the 6th, and this would set an outward 9 of 32.

00:12:31:20

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Gonzo would make that move to 6 under par. How about Andrew Novak? A 7-under 65 on Thursday. This for birdie at 15 to get back to 7 under.

00:12:40:16

CRAIG PERKS: See, he's played 24 holes. He's made 12 birdies. That is quite remarkable.

00:12:47:05

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Back to the 9th, Alex Prugh, this for birdie at the par-5 to get to 6 under.

00:12:51:09

CRAIG PERKS: A dangerous man on this Tour. He's graduated on his Tour three times. Had the victory. And lurking right now.

00:12:58:03

STEVE BURKOWSKI: So plenty of players making the most of these scoring opportunities on a very difficult golf course. Anderson, Novak, and Jacque Blaauw all tied at the top at 7 under. A host of others giving chase, Munoz 3 under on the day. Castano, 4 under in the second round. Prugh and Albertson also playing well.

00:13:19:18

STEVE BURKOWSKI: 12th, second here at the par-4 for Castano.

00:13:24:02

CRAIG PERKS: He's--[club swing] just a wedge shot. But a dangerous hole location, pushed all the way in the back part of this green.

00:13:37:06

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Wyndham Clark coming off a stellar collegiate career at both Oklahoma State and Oregon, making the most of his rookie season on the Tour.

00:13:47:19

CRAIG PERKS: Well, 73 yesterday. And, uh, he's got one birdie in the back today. So back to level par. He has all the attributes, Top 10 in Driving Distance, Top 10 in Putting, Top 10 All Around. And he's in a good spot right here. Not much movement in this one.

00:14:04:12

STEVE BURKOWSKI: This for a birdie to get to 1 under par. Oh, yes.

00:14:11:05

CRAIG PERKS: [Laugh] Finally.

00:14:14:10

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Well, remember that back 9 back in Evansville, where he wasn't really in the mix. But next thing you know, he picks up a 2nd-place finish, and then rattles off a couple of more Top-10 in the weeks ahead. Again, started at Oklahoma State for three seasons, transferred to Oregon for his final year of eligibility. Not often are you the Conference Player of the Year at two different schools in two different conferences. That's exactly what Wyndham Clark did. He helped the Oregon Ducks get to the Championship Match of the NCAA Championships at Rich Harvest Farms a year ago. And a young man, as you said, with immense talent, and a big, big upside.

00:14:52:01

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Back at the par-4 12th, this is Billy Kennerly for birdie to get to 4 under.

00:14:56:28

CRAIG PERKS: A good place to putt from, back up the hill, be a little bit more aggressive. Carried the speed, poured it in the center.

00:15:05:02

STEVE BURKOWSKI: The 25-year-old, who began this week 70th on the Money List. Finished 45th a year ago, playing only 14 events.

00:15:14:07

CRAIG PERKS: He actually led the Tour in scoring last year.

00:15:16:07

STEVE BURKOWSKI: That was a moment ago. Now live with Castano at the 12th.

00:15:22:03

CRAIG PERKS: Part of the game that Castano has struggled with. Cozy it down the hill. And you think at that slow a pace, it may have taken a little bit of the break. A good spot, though, just one back of the lead, 6 under.

00:15:43:12

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Back at 15, Jimmy Gunn for birdie to get to 3 under.

00:15:46:27

GARY CHRISTIAN: And a little bit downhill. Oh, that's a good roll there. Good recovery.

00:15:52:03

STEVE BURKOWSKI: A good up-and-down out of the bunker for Jimmy Gunn. Back-to-back birdies on those back-to-back par-5s.

00:15:59:13

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Now at 17, Mito Pereira, this for a birdie at the par-3.

00:16:04:27

CRAIG PERKS: No, he didn't.

00:16:05:25

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Yes, he did. [clapping]

00:16:07:06

CRAIG PERKS: Oh, my goodness. Making a 2 at 17, that is just the seventh birdie there today. Incredible.

00:16:16:24

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Over at 16, Jimmy Gunn for birdie.

00:16:19:18

GARY CHRISTIAN: Yeah. Left--left-right putt for his third birdie in a row. Nicely done, this one. [clapping]

00:16:28:08

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Now at 15, the par-5, third shot upcoming for Billy Kennerly.

00:16:33:06

CRAIG PERKS: This is difficult, with that hole location just on seven paces. There's a pretty significant fall-off short of the hole. And you don't want to go long. [club swing] Let's see if he can control the distant with a wedge. Ah, indeed, he did. Beautiful shot there from Billy.

00:16:50:13

STEVE BURKOWSKI: He knew where he--what he was doing.

00:16:51:29

CRAIG PERKS: Ah, he's a professional.

00:16:53:06

STEVE BURKOWSKI: [Chuckle]

00:16:55:28

STEVE BURKOWSKI: As we go back to 18, you see that front-right hole location at the par-4 finishing hole.

00:17:06:08

GARY CHRISTIAN: Well, Jimmy actually got very lucky here. A lovely lie, very thin rough, the grass going with him, a great angle in from this angle.

00:17:19:02

GOLFER: What's the total, again?

00:17:23:05

CADDY: I got 49 total.

00:17:25:01

GOLFER: 43, but just [indistinct] playing left of it.

00:17:31:20

GARY CHRISTIAN: Ooh, going aggressive there. Everything runs left-to-right with the green. Just a pitching wedge for Jimmy. [club swing]

00:17:42:08

GOLFER: Sit. Sit. Bite. Sit. Bite. Sit.

00:17:46:20

GARY CHRISTIAN: A great line.

00:17:49:10

CRAIG PERKS: Oh. Just about perfect line. Man, what a golf shot. It's got him a chance to birdie four out of his last five holes and get to within three.

00:17:59:11

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Now back to 16, Billy Kennerly for birdie.

00:18:07:16

CRAIG PERKS: Hold your line. It's gonna break right late. Oh, beautiful putt.

00:18:14:21

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Out to 18, finishing hole for Wyndham Clark. He's battled back nicely here in the Second Round. [club swing]

00:18:24:19

CRAIG PERKS: And aggressive off the tee. So just a short iron right over the top of the flag. A gorgeous shot there from the 24-year-old. [chuckle] Wow.

00:18:35:15

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Ryan Yip going along well, 4 under par. This, his third. [club swing]

00:18:40:07

CRAIG PERKS: Bring it in nice and low here, and skip it all the way to that back hole location.

00:18:49:23

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Now out to 18, second for Castano. [club swing]

00:18:58:01

CRAIG PERKS: He can be very aggressive here with just a wedge shot into this front hole location. Stay right there. Yeah, nicely done to be putt up the hill, try and get to--well, that will get him in a tie for the lead.

00:19:11:23

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Dan McCarthy for eagle and the outright lead. We saw Albertson moments ago from a similar spot and a similar result.

00:19:22:06

STEVE BURKOWSKI: So a short one remaining for Dan McCarthy at 14.

00:19:26:28

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Dan McCarthy leading the way, 8 under par. He has a few holes remaining in his second round. Castano in at 7 under, Prugh, Albertson, Anderson, also at 7 under with action still remaining here in their second round. We're back with Third Round action at the Rust-Oleum Championship tomorrow.

[COMMERCIAL BREAK]

00:19:51:03

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Greetings from the Rust-Oleum Championship. You're looking live at the 10th hole. [club swing] Kyle Jones leads by one. His second at the par 4.

00:20:00:26

GARY CHRISTIAN: And coming into a very narrow back flag here. That is a sensible shot.

00:20:13:22

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Ivanhoe, Illinois, about 45 miles northwest of downtown Chicago. Ivanhoe Club, the Rust-Oleum Championship for the third consecutive year, this fine venue playing host to the Tour on an ideal Saturday afternoon. And Maverick McNealy, the man leading after 36 holes. He did the same thing six weeks ago in Evansville, where he ultimately finished tied for 3rd, a one-shot lead beginning this third round. And this is the 8th event of the season on the Tour for Maverick McNealy. He has made the cut in all eight. And on Thursday and Friday the lowest-scoring average on this tour, 69.3. But on the weekends, a completely different story. That scoring average going up nearly two-and-a-half shots. We will see if that trend continues here on the weekend. Steve Burkowski and Craig Perks with you. Speaking of McNealy, after six straight pars to start his day, his second here at the 7th. [club swing]

00:21:09:29

CRAIG PERKS: Toughest hole on the golf course in the first two rounds. And this one is pulled, and will find the water.

00:21:19:28

STEVE BURKOWSKI: So after a steady start for McNealy, the errant second there at 7, this now for bogey.

00:21:26:01

CRAIG PERKS: Opened with 68, 64. But this with the double-bogey here, his first over-par score on a hole since the 2nd hole on Thursday.

00:21:35:03

STEVE BURKOWSKI: And then at the par-5 9th, missing the green with his second.

00:21:37:28

CRAIG PERKS: Yeah. He had 223 yards with a 4-iron. It was a difficult shot. But that was not the result he was looking for.

00:21:45:11

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Led to bogey out, in 39 on the front side. But others making a big move up the Leaderboard on this Saturday. How about long-hitting Cameron Champ? His second at 16.

00:21:54:10

CRAIG PERKS: Man, does this guy need a big week. That would set up his third straight birdie. He would post 66. He's 65th on the Money List starting this week.

00:22:02:27

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Now, at the 11th hole. Tee shot for [club swing] Christian Brand.

00:22:07:28

CRAIG PERKS: Saved that one a little, trying to turn it from right to left to that back left hole location on the par-3, and that is spot on.

00:22:15:29

STEVE BURKOWSKI: That would lead to birdie. Brand would move 12 under par. But how about Justin Lower? Par-5 14th for birdie to also move to 12 under.

00:22:24:22

CRAIG PERKS: 5 under par on his round today, making a huge move for the man that is 50th on the Money List.

00:22:34:12

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Back out to the golf course. See how McNealy fares on this back nine. This his second at the par-4 10th. [club swing]

00:22:40:12

CRAIG PERKS: Yeah. This hole location 31 paces on, pushed all the way part of this green. Coming off of an outward nine of 39. That's a good comeback there for Maverick.

00:22:53:27

STEVE BURKOWSKI: [Indistinct], the par 5, Alex Prugh, this short one for birdie to get to 12 under, and one shot back.

00:22:59:02

CRAIG PERKS: Yeah. This would be 6 under on his round. And three straight birdies. The man has graduated off this Tour three different times.

00:23:07:27

STEVE BURKOWSKI: The 18th. Billy Kennerly for birdie to get to 12 under.

00:23:12:15

CRAIG PERKS: This is a really tough hole location. Up a little ridge. Everything funnels away from him. No, he didn't. Oh, my goodness.

00:23:20:11

STEVE BURKOWSKI: He did. [laugh]

00:23:21:12

CRAIG PERKS: How about that finish? Five birdies in his last seven holes to post 65. Began the day 22nd. He's now tied for 2nd.

00:23:30:18

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Saturday, 65's--

00:23:31:15

CRAIG PERKS: That'll work.

00:23:32:01

STEVE BURKOWSKI: --go a long way--

00:23:32:28

CRAIG PERKS: Yes, they do.

00:23:33:07

STEVE BURKOWSKI: --on this tour, or any tour.

00:23:34:27

CRAIG PERKS: Anywhere.

00:23:37:04

STEVE BURKOWSKI: So one of a handful a shot back of Kyle Jones. Back out to 14. Christian Brand. This for eagle after two wonderful shots.

00:23:46:20

CRAIG PERKS: This is a very quick putt around the hole and beyond.

00:23:55:25

CRAIG PERKS: Oh, beautifully judged. Wow.

00:23:58:25

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Great work by our camera crew. That one was just tracking right towards us. So a two-putt birdie at 14 for Christian Brand. He now moves to 13 under, tied at the top of the Leaderboard.

00:24:14:01

TRIPP ISENHOUR: Yeah. We head to the 11th now, the par 3, playing 172 yards. Kyle Jones will be first to play.

00:24:20:27

GARY CHRISTIAN: Yeah. Playing at one tee box up today with this very tricky little back-left flag on a tiny little ledge, guarded by a slope just right of the flag. "A" time for Kyle.

00:24:30:24

TRIPP ISENHOUR: What's back there you got to be fearful of, Gary?

00:24:33:15

GARY CHRISTIAN: Well, I mean, if you ever miss it left and it's slight--it's slightly shorter than pin high, it's going to run down to a low spot in this heavy rough not far from the edge of the green. But it's a fairly simple shot, just a little soft draw, 10 feet right. There is such a short line. Good chance to get it somewhere up there inside 15 feet. [club swing]

00:25:02:07

TRIPP ISENHOUR: A unique takeaway, he kind of takes it back outside a little bit, reroutes it back under. And what a shot. It works beautifully there. About six feet left for birdie.

00:25:13:06

TRIPP ISENHOUR: A par 5, hole cut in the back. Now, this is a good spot right here. he's pitching back up the hill.

00:25:24:28

TRIPP ISENHOUR: Now, back to the 11th, and Kyle Jones, an opportunity to get to 14 under.

00:25:29:24

GARY CHRISTIAN: Yeah. Perhaps an unknown quantity, but has really responded well to the situation. This straight up the hill.

00:25:38:16

TRIPP ISENHOUR: Kind of a pop stroke. Hits it pretty hard right at the ball, and seems to be rolling it really nicely today, going along great. Just his second year on the Tour. His best, a tie for 8th in Louisiana.

00:25:53:05

STEVE BURKOWSKI: 16, Lower, a shot back. This his second.

00:25:57:06

CRAIG PERKS: A difficult hole location, [club swing] just five paces from the right edge. There is a lot of slope in the right side of this green. So maybe a little short left of the flag, about right there. Good one.

00:26:10:17

STEVE BURKOWSKI: As we go back to 12, Jones for birdie.

00:26:12:21

GARY CHRISTIAN: Yeah. And ideal spot, uphill, barely right to left.

00:26:21:27

CRAIG PERKS: He's handling himself very nicely, just making his 34th career start on the Tour.

00:26:29:01

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Now to 16, Lower for birdie and a share of the lead.

00:26:34:11

CRAIG PERKS: This would be for three straight, get to 7 under on his round. And putting with some confidence there. [clapping]

00:26:39:12

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Yeah, the 29-year-old, who played collegially at Malone University. Now, back to McNealy at 12.

00:26:48:23

STEVE BURKOWSKI: So he rights the ship just a little bit. Nice approach there. His first birdie of the day. Back to 10 under par, four shots off the lead.

00:26:57:02

TRIPP ISENHOUR: The 17th now, Alex Prugh has this for birdie, coming across the slope. He has birdied four of his last six holes. And he's got another one. [cheers and clapping] What a beautiful putt there.

00:27:12:20

GARY CHRISTIAN: How cool was that of Mike Weir? He knew it was going a little quick, and he said "Slow down, slow down, slow down."

00:27:19:21

TRIPP ISENHOUR: As we head up to the green, Chase Wright with a long chance for birdie. 28-year old out of--played at the University of Indiana. And beautiful putt there.

00:27:34:26

TRIPP ISENHOUR: Let's go up a couple now to the 15th, Brady Schnell, minus 11. Third shot here on the par 5, [club swing] coming down the hill. Look how high he lofted that. Way up in the air. It catches the slope. Oh, look at this. Well, there you go. [chuckle]

00:27:53:12

CRAIG PERKS: That was the perfect height.

00:27:54:25

TRIPP ISENHOUR: Perfect height. Got a lot of spin on it. Eagle 3. So his last five holes, birdie, birdie, birdie, par, eagle. There you go. That will get you going. Gets him to minus 13, within one of the lead.

00:28:11:20

TRIPP ISENHOUR: 13 now. Jones in a bit of trouble.

00:28:14:25

GARY CHRISTIAN: Yeah. The place you certainly can't miss it here. Well below his feet. And this would be a good test of the nerves here. To get this close, he's going to have to float it with the edge of the green in the heavy rough.

00:28:26:16

TRIPP ISENHOUR: Looking at a tree from behind him, Gary. Is he going to have to deal with that, as well?

00:28:29:23

GARY CHRISTIAN: It appears he's just about all right. I'm seeing a lot of ball, fortunately.

00:28:34:24

TRIPP ISENHOUR: Below his feet, easy to leave this short. [club swing]

00:28:40:09

TRIPP ISENHOUR: And what a shot. [clapping] What a shot. That was beautiful out of that lie below his feet. Well, if he can walk away with par here after that swing on the tee shot and the swing at the second, it will feel like a birdie.

00:28:55:05

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Now at 14, Chase Wright, his second shot. Lower did make his par at 17. [club swing]

00:29:01:16

CRAIG PERKS: This hole location just seven paces on. So if anything, go a little deep in the green at this par 5. Oh, just take it straight at--That is amazing to land at the--that's--that's 12 feet of green with a long iron and stop it. Phenomenal shot there.

00:29:18:10

TRIPP ISENHOUR: Back at 13 now, Jones for an unlikely par.

00:29:25:22

TRIPP ISENHOUR: What a par that was. Two very poor swings. Be tickled to death to walk over to the 14th now.

00:29:33:29

STEVE BURKOWSKI: From high above, the green at 18. See if Justin Lower can save his par. This for a round of 65 to get in at 14 under. He finished 3rd in Louisiana, his best finish of the season on--on the Tour. 50th starting this week on the Money List. So a good solid campaign to this point. But like many others, a chance to really change the outlook for the next three months.

00:30:00:03

CRAIG PERKS: No question about it. A $600,000 purse, over a $100,000. And he's putted beautifully today, just 22 putts. Just got to hit it firmly enough, trust that it's pretty straight.

00:30:19:08

CRAIG PERKS: Mmm, good effort. Second bogey today, and shoots 66. Always good on a Saturday. And he rolled four, one out of the lead.

00:30:44:05

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Back at 16, Chase Wright has this for birdie, get within a shot of the lead.

00:30:49:14

CRAIG PERKS: It's got some movement into it, right to left. It'll be for the 6th birdie of the day for Chase. [clapping] There you go. Just one back.

00:30:58:21

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Remember, he birdied 16, 17, and 18 yesterday coming in.

00:31:04:10

STEVE BURKOWSKI: To 17.

00:31:05:19

TRIPP ISENHOUR: Yeah, just a little work left for Jones.

00:31:12:11

TRIPP ISENHOUR: He set that ball up, it looked like on the heel of that putter, but caught it in the middle. Nice putt, nice playing today for Kyle Jones. One to go.

00:31:21:08

STEVE BURKOWSKI: It all about the Money List, Craig Perks. You crunch the numbers. You get out your abacus, your calculator, your pen and your paper. And what are you coming up with as the magic number to finish inside the 25 on the regular season Money List?

00:31:35:20

CRAIG PERKS: Got--got one extra rent in the regular season. And I'm looking--if you go to the next page, I believe there are 13--is it 13? 16 players over $130,000. So I've made a slight adjustment. Originally, I thought about $160. I'm feeling pretty good if I can get to $170,000 or above. It's been extremely competitive, as it is every year on this tour. But there's been a lot of great play. And Robbie Shelton, right on the bubble there, played so well at the BMW. He finished 2nd. And that's a stressful place to be on this Tour.

00:32:13:27

GARY CHRISTIAN: Certainly not too much to scare you here. But, yes, he will delighted how well he's played today, how well he's handled the situation.

00:32:21:13

CRAIG PERKS: I would--couldn't agree more with you, Gary. The guy that's just making his 34th career start on this Tour is looking pretty much under control.

00:32:37:20

CRAIG PERKS: And a beautiful control of the distance there. You know when your nerves are--are a little jittery you--you struggle on the greens. And he has been great all day. Some key up-and-downs. A nice round of golf. [clapping]

00:32:53:20

STEVE BURKOWSKI: In 2016, Kyle Jones was out here on the Tour. Played 20 events. Finished 114th on the Money List. Kyle Jones, 68. Flawless on this Saturday, 4 under par, 15-under. He takes a one-shot lead heading into Championship Sunday. But a host of others giving chase. One at 14, two at 13, four at 12. A couple of highlights on the day for Kyle Jones. This, [club swing] his tee shot at the par-3 11th.

00:33:26:01

CRAIG PERKS: Yeah, 172 yards. Just turning a gentle little 7-iron to that back-left hold location. Now, that was gorgeous.

00:33:33:07

STEVE BURKOWSKI: That would lead to a birdie for Kyle Jones. Then at the par-5 15th, after racing his eagle putt well past the hole, this a nice comeback.

00:33:42:11

CRAIG PERKS: It really was. And he putted--he putted beautifully today. His speed was really good, 28 putts. A lot of good things to build on for tomorrow to try to win for the first time on this Tour.

00:33:55:02

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Bogey-free. Out in 34. Home in 34. Just a rock-solid, steady round for the 24-year-old that played his college golf at Baylor.

00:34:06:27

STEVE BURKOWSKI: For the entire crew, the hardworking men and women who brought you today's broadcast, I'm Steve Burkowski saying, so long from Illinois.

[COMMERCIAL BREAK]

00:34:21:09

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Welcome to Championship Sunday on the Tour. Final Round coverage from Ivanhoe club at the Rust-Oleum Championship. So glad you could be with us on this Sunday. A lot of action already going on. Some good low scores continuing. Steve Burkowski and Player Champ, Craig Perks with you. Out at the 7th, this was Christian Brand for birdie.

00:34:40:20

CRAIG PERKS: Yeah. He shot 65 yesterday, bogey-free. And birdie at the 7th, [clapping] which is the 3rd most difficult hole on the golf course. Got along nicely.

That got him to 15 under par. The overnight leader, Kyle Jones, struggles in the early going. This to get one back at 9.

00:34:55:25

CRAIG PERKS: Yeah, he sure did. Bogeys 2, 4, and 6. But that's a beautiful putt. Straight down the hill. He's putted magnificently all week long.

00:35:02:10

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Now, at the 11th, the par 3, Justin Lower's tee shot, [club swing] currently 14 under.

00:35:07:20

CRAIG PERKS: 161 yards to a right hole location. These greens are very accessible. About an inch of rain had fallen over the last couple of days, and that's a good one there from Justin.

00:35:19:00

STEVE BURKOWSKI: It got better and better. Led to birdie. Moved him to 15 under par. Christian Brand would birdie 9 to get to 16. Made double-bogey at 10th, just to bounce back sat 11.

00:35:29:29

CRAIG PERKS: Oh, I love the bounce-back. And that one was a confident stroke, right in the center for the man that's 124th on the Money List.

00:35:38:20

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Now, Sebastian Munoz, a few groups ahead. The par 5 14th, this his third.

00:35:43:06

CRAIG PERKS: Well, he's 11th on the Money List. It's been a fantastic season for Sebastian. And bogey-free today, 5 under. And he is right there.

00:35:52:04

STEVE BURKOWSKI: That would move him to 15 under par, as well. And you take a look at the most recent Leaderboard, look at the log jam. Five tied at the top, three others a shot back, shaping up for a shoot-out here on a Sunday in the great State of Illinois.

00:36:10:23

STEVE BURKOWSKI: So after the nice pitch to this point at the 14th for Chase Wright, a short birdie putt for the outright lead. [clapping]

00:36:20:27

STEVE BURKOWSKI: So maybe Chase Wright will be the man to break out from the pack. He's now 16 under, leads by one, and heading to that second consecutive par 5.

00:36:30:08

TRIPP ISENHOUR: 15 now, Prugh for birdie, and a share of the lead. Nice up and down from the bunker. Takes advantage of this par 5.

00:36:39:19

TRIPP ISENHOUR: Now, a tie, a two-way tie atop the leaderboard at 16 under par.

00:36:44:14

TRIPP ISENHOUR: And now 17, Anderson for birdie. Yeah, took advantage of watching McNealy's putt. Got it on the right line. And that's a great birdie here at the 17th. And that gets him into a tie for the lead at 16 under.

00:36:59:29

STEVE BURKOWSKI: At 14, a longer birdie putt than Brand would have hoped for. But this for a share of the lead.

00:37:04:19

GARY CHRISTIAN: Now, over a slight slope. Good pace on it. Good-looking line. Oh. [clapping]

00:37:11:27

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Great result. Christian Brand now joining the mix at the top at 16 under.

00:37:16:26

STEVE BURKOWSKI: We're back at 16, four players tied at 16 under, including this man, Alex Prugh. But he has this to get to 17. And looking for someone to break out here, Craig.

00:37:29:05

CRAIG PERKS: Huge putt. Huge putt. Straight down the hill. You don't have to worry about the speed. And not a lot of break in it.

00:37:41:26

CRAIG PERKS: Yes, sir. Magnificent. He's putted fantastically today. Just 22 putts through 16 holes.

00:37:49:06

TRIPP ISENHOUR: Back to the 15th now, uh, Chase Wright, an opportunity to share the lead at minus-17. It's a nice up and down from the bunker there for Chase Wright. [cheers and clapping]

00:38:02:23

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Now, Brand up next.

00:38:04:08

CRAIG PERKS: I'm not sure why that ball's not being marked. It could stop it from going in the hole.

00:38:12:14

GARY CHRISTIAN: Brand's certainly--his strength has been usually his short game. These are different circumstances now, though.

00:38:18:14

CRAIG PERKS: It's a hot topic issue, this backstopping.

00:38:22:27

CRAIG PERKS: It sort of gives you confidence up there that if you--if it was gone a little quick and hit that ball, it would stop it.

00:38:27:23

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Back at 18, short one for par for Alex Prugh to get in at 17 under. [clapping] So he did what he needed to do on this Sunday. Go out, started the day three back. Shoots 67. Now he'll sit and wait and see if it's enough.

00:38:48:06

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Crowds gathering in on this dreary Sunday afternoon in Ivanhoe, Illinois. Taking a look to see if Chase Wright can birdie the last to get the lead at 18-under.

00:39:01:22

CRAIG PERKS: Yeah. And let's see if he keeps--you see the par 4 scoring--keeps a routine. Remember the putt he had on six, uh, the previous hole, got up there, one little quick look, and go. This potentially to win.

00:39:25:22

CRAIG PERKS: Oh, that was an excellent putt.

00:39:31:03

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Boy, that looked like it was in about two feet short of the hole.

00:39:34:19

CRAIG PERKS: Well, you saw Alex Prugh's sort of--sort of wander right. His was--line was a little bit more to the right. Exactly the same thing happened. That's a subtle break that both of those players did not see.

00:39:44:27

TRIPP ISENHOUR: And now Christian Brand for par at 17.

00:39:47:23

GARY CHRISTIAN: To give himself an opportunity in the last.

00:39:53:04

TRIPP ISENHOUR: Oh, what a beautiful putt. [clapping]

00:39:59:26

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Now back to 18, a couple of feet remaining for Chase Right for par, a round of 68, and to join Alex Prugh in the clubhouse at 17 under. He wastes little time.

00:40:19:08

CRAIG PERKS: Whoa. [chuckle]

00:40:20:13

CRAIG PERKS: Good--good catch from the hole there.

00:40:23:05

STEVE BURKOWSKI: A 4 is a 4.

00:40:24:13

CRAIG PERKS: Yeah. Thankfully, it disappeared.

00:40:26:22

STEVE BURKOWSKI: So three straight 68's to wrap his week here at the Rust-Oleum Championship. But it doesn’t look like it's done as of yet. Wright and Prugh tied at 17 under.

00:40:40:10

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Now, Christian Brand, a long birdie putt here at 18 to make it a three-man play-off.

00:40:46:12

GARY CHRISTIAN: And he will certainly earn it if he makes this one. A good 50-footer, up and over a little ridge, moving to the right at the end.

00:41:12:25

MALE: Get in the hole.

00:41:20:12

CRAIG PERKS: Oh, it was--it was a difficult putt. But he's misjudged that.

00:41:24:29

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Now, a big putt for Christian Brand. He will not win this golf tournament. But this for par, and solo 3rd.

00:41:32:14

GARY CHRISTIAN: Well, when we get to Portland, let me do just replay these last five minutes, mighten we? The importance of all these putts.

00:42:01:08

CRAIG PERKS: Wow, what a great effort. [cheers and clapping] Solo third with $40,800. And considering he had only made $13,500 this week, what a great week for Christian.

00:42:12:25

STEVE BURKOWSKI: That putt worth $17,175. It's pretty big. Now, Lower for double-bogey. [clapping]

00:42:33:17

STEVE BURKOWSKI: A disappointing finish for Lower. But still can take a lot of positives from this week. In at 13 under after a final day of even-par 72. A little bonus golf coming your way from Ivanhoe Club. Alex Prugh, Chase Wright, first playoff hole coming up when we return to Illinois.

[COMMERCIAL BREAK]

00:42:58:25

STEVE BURKOWSKI: So a couple of birdie putts upcoming for Prugh and Wright. And Alex Prugh will be first up.

00:43:15:26

CRAIG PERKS: Very good. [clapping]

00:43:32:10

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Chase Wright now for birdie and the win.

00:43:56:00

CRAIG PERKS: That close to securing a PGA Tour Card, basically. Good effort.

00:44:06:12

CRAIG PERKS: It was a really good roll. These greens have been magnificent all week, even with the rains that we've had the last couple of nights, and--

00:44:21:17

STEVE BURKOWSKI: So a couple of par putts remaining for Prugh and Wright. Alex with the better part of almost three feet.

00:44:33:18

GARY CHRISTIAN: And straight back up the hill. Just call in those years of experience. [clapping]

00:44:51:22

STEVE BURKOWSKI: So Alex Prugh in with a 4 on the first playoff hole. Chase Wright will try to do the same. [clapping]

00:45:12:20

STEVE BURKOWSKI: So they'll head back to 18.

00:45:19:05

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Second playoff hole, Chase Wright, Alex Prugh at it again at the par-4 18th. [club swing]

00:45:33:12

GARY CHRISTIAN: It makes a far better line. A very good-looking shot.

00:45:38:17

CRAIG PERKS: Oh, indeed. He got it all the way hole high, and down the slope. [clapping] That will be a great opportunity for birdie. And that applies a lot of pressure to Chase Wright.

00:45:51:04

GARY CHRISTIAN: Yeah. [club swing]

00:46:00:22

GARY CHRISTIAN: A bit in low, trying to cut it in there. Not a good-looking shot. [laugh]

00:46:07:08

CRAIG PERKS: Now, that is magnificent, and in a great spot. Straight up the hill there.

00:46:14:09

STEVE BURKOWSKI: A very good one by Alex Prugh, a great one by Chase Wright.

00:46:23:10

CRAIG PERKS: Yeah. It took a little off from 169, cut it back to that hole location, which is rather fancy, to be honest with you, trying to hit a cut in under pressure, and you don't quite strike it, it's generally thinning to the right. Again, water there. And up to the task.

00:46:39:16

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Chase Wright spent three years on the Tour, 2014, 15, 16. Last year he was up in Canada. Picked up a win. Finished 8th on the Order of Merit. But a win here, $108 grand, the trophy, and all but secures a PGA Tour Card for next season. And take a look at Alex Prugh, who has spent time on both the PGA and Tours. He won in New Zealand nine years ago on the Tour. He would be projected to move up to 12th, not quite enough to feel comfortable. But certainly in a very good spot, if he's able to get it done.

00:47:14:21

CRAIG PERKS: Yeah. No questions about it. It would be about $152,000 for Alex Prugh if he'd won--if he wins. And for Chase Wright, $177,0000, which would cross that threshold.

00:47:37:14

STEVE BURKOWSKI: So, two birdie putts upcoming. Wright is in tight. Prugh also, a very good look. And could be the first one in, usually a good mantra in a playoff. First in, mostly, they win.

00:47:49:03

CRAIG PERKS: [overlap] Well, I think Alex Prugh, in the back of his mind, has to believe, Gary, he has to make this. Because Chase Wright's got a--I mean, it's a pressure-packed putt. But it is straight up the hill, and pretty straightforward.

00:47:59:26

GARY CHRISTIAN: Absolutely. And what I do like, no input from the caddie. It's all his own intuition here. I like it. You put it in your own hands.

00:48:17:25

CRAIG PERKS: I actually think it makes the task slightly easier knowing I have to--I really have to make this. There is no, "Well, maybe Chase will miss and"-- You've got to go out there and knock this thing in.

00:48:33:03

STEVE BURKOWSKI: 272 events on the PGA Tour and Tour, combined. This would be for his second victory out here on the Tour.

00:48:57:12

MALE: Get in the hole! [clapping]

00:49:15:03

CRAIG PERKS: Here again, there is movement from left to right, and it's so quick.

00:49:20:08

CRAIG PERKS: He's had a couple of strokes like that, sort of gone--the putter head's gone left quick, put some side spin on it. That's why it broke more than he thought.

00:49:28:04

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Now, the door open for Chase Wright. Of course, he was in closer. Would have had the birdie putt nonetheless, even if Prugh made it.

00:49:36:06

CRAIG PERKS: Basically, this is for a PGA Tour Card. The win would get him to $177,000. Never been on the PGA Tour before. [cheers and clapping]

00:50:04:16

STEVE BURKOWSKI: There you have it, a birdie on the second playoff hole by Chase Wright.

00:50:08:24

FEMALE: Oh, my God, I'm so proud of you.

00:50:10:17

CHASE WRIGHT: Thank you.

00:50:12:00

STEVE BURKOWSKI: A winner in Ivanhoe, Illinois in 2018 Rust-Oleum Champion. And Craig, as you said, virtually assured of heading to the PGA Tour.

00:50:24:01

CRAIG PERKS: No question about it. And I think the--he really struggled in 2016 on this tour and he made five cuts. Went to Canada, finished 8th on the Order of Merit up there with a victory. And now victorious for the first time on the Tour. [cheers and clapping]

00:50:52:06

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Statistically this week, no one drove it better, no one hit more greens. He was one of the best putters. When you look at those numbers, no surprise to see what he did on that second playoff hole. A very happy Chase Wright. And for very good reason. Pick up that trophy. There could be no better feeling as a professional golfer on a Sunday afternoon to hold that trophy and know that you finally accomplished something. I'm Steve Burkowski saying so long from Ivanhoe where Chase Wright is your Champion in 2018.
