UAL Project ProposalCentre Name and Number: Exeter College – 54221Student Name and Number: Thomas Adcock – 83992Project Proposal Title and Date: Film Club – 20/02/17Main Pathway/Medium: Short FilmSection One – RationaleSo far this year in the course we have created a corporate video, decided on what we would like to do in the future, made a live TV show production and done a TED Talk. Some of the things I learnt were how to make a proposal for a client, what would be the best progressive route for me to take, how to create a live TV show production as a team and how to research a topic properly. Skills that I have developed over the year include communicating with clients, managing light in a production and researching a specific topic. This learning process has influenced my choice of final project because I have decided I do not want to create a corporate video or a live TV show production. I have chosen to do a short film, something that I am interested in.Section Two – Project ConceptFor my final project I am going to create a short film. The concept of the short film is that it will show a college film club meeting for the final time before they break up for the summer. For they’re last meeting they decide to rank their top five movies of all time. My aims for this short film are for it to have a smart script, be five minutes or under and be enjoyable for the audience to watch. Another aim of mine for my short film is to enter it into a film festival. Some of the research that I will carry out includes identifying my key practitioners, looking at my competition and seeing who my target audience will be. By identifying my key practitioners I can draw inspiration from them and their work that they have made. By looking at my competition I can gain inspiration but I can also see what I can do to beat them. By seeing who my target audience is I can create my final project in a way in which I can cater for them. A few of the resources that I will require are a camera, tripod, sound recorder and a Mac with Final Cut. Another thing that is essential to create my short film is actors who will read the script and know their lines. Cameramen would also be very helpful in the production of my final project.Section Three – EvaluationOne way in which I’ll evaluate my work as I go along during the project will be by writing everything I have done on each day in my production journal. Another way in evaluating my work as I go along will be by writing a mini evaluation for every part of the brief I do. I will evaluate my project at the end by looking over all of the work I’ve done and writing down my strengths and weaknesses of what I have produced. Any decisions or changes that I make to my pre-production, production and post-production will be recorded.Section Four – Production Schedule/Action Plan20/02/17Start production journal and identify key practitioners22/02/17Start formal project proposal – rationale, project concept, evaluation23/02/17Continue formal project proposal – production schedule/action plan24/02/17Continue formal project proposal – research sources/bibliography27/02/17Start research – practitioners01/03/17Continue research – competition, target audience02/03/17Continue research – legal and ethical issues03/03/17Continue research – concepts, ideas and topics06/03/17Continue research – technical requirements08/03/17Finish research – costs/budgets/production issues09/03/17Start and finish research evaluation10/03/17Start FMP pitch – outline of concept, runtime13/03/17Continue FMP pitch – target audience, inspiration15/03/17Continue FMP pitch – key conclusions from research, production schedule16/03/17Start pre-production – script 17/03/17Continue pre-production – script20/03/17Continue pre-production – script breakdown22/03/17Continue pre-production – storyboard23/03/17Continue pre-production – storyboard24/03/17Continue pre-production – shot log/edit decision27/03/17Continue pre-production – shooting schedule29/03/17Continue pre-production – recce sheet, location release30/03/17Continue pre-production – risk assessment31/03/17Continue pre-production – cast list17/04/17Continue pre-production – crew list, contributor consent form19/04/17Start test shots20/04/17Start Foley experiments21/04/17Start making final piece – test shoot24/04/17Continue making final piece – ensure everything is ready26/04/17Continue making final piece – shoot the short film27/04/17Continue making final piece – start editing short film28/04/17Continue making final piece – continue editing short film01/05/17Continue making final piece – continue editing short film03/05/17Continue making final piece – create Foley sound04/05/17Continue making final piece – Finish editing short film05/05/17Outline plans to screen/present product to specific audience08/05/17Screen product to specific audience, collect feedback10/05/17Start evaluation – question 1, question 211/05/17Continue evaluation – question 3, question 412/05/17Continue evaluation – question 5, question 615/05/17Continue evaluation – question 7, question 817/05/17Check everything18/05/17Check everything19/05/17Check everything22/05/17Check everything24/05/17Check everything25/05/17Check everything26/05/17Submit FMPSection Five – Research Sources/Bibliography Draw up a list of all of the primary and secondary sources you might use to research your concept and turn this list into a correctly formatted Bibliography (Harvard Referencing). Before you start the project you should have a good range of possible sources for research. As you complete the project you will find other sources and you should add these to your formal bibliography. This means you hand in a first version now and a different, complete version at the end of the project.Name Of SourceReference InfoQuotes/Stats etc.Clerks II (5/8) Movie CLIP - Lord of the Rings vs. Star Wars (2006) HD HYPERLINK "" on 23/02/17“Alright look, there's only one "Return", okay, and it ain't of the King.
