Good Morning WatchDOG

2273300-516255WATCH DOGS DAILYGood Morning WatchDOGS!!!Thank you again for volunteering for this exciting program which could NEVER be possible without you! I know you will enjoy your day as a WatchDOG!!! Below are guidelines that will assist you throughout the day and directions for getting started. Should you have any questions during the day, don’t hesitate to ask Mrs. Blefko, Mr. Jacques or the front office staff for assistance. Most importantly – HAVE FUN! FIRE DRILLS - In the event of a fire drill or real emergency where we need to evacuate, WatchDOG Dads need to go out with the class they are currently assisting.?7:20am - You should arrive, park in the Designated “WatchDOGS” parking space and report to the Main Office. PLEASE SIGN IN as a volunteer in the Volunteer BINDER. A roll of NAME TAGS is in the small WatchDOG station against the wall to the right, on the check-in desk. Name tags must be worn throughout the day (Mr. ‘Last Name’).Belongings – If you have any belongings (coat, lunch, etc.), they are to be stored in the Teachers Lounge which is located at the end of the hall in the office. Feel free to use the amenities provided in the lounge as needed (coffee, refrigerator, etc.)7:25am – You should now be reporting to the CAR LOOP. Usually, you will be escorted by an Administrator. Feel free to help open doors, welcome students and be courteous to the parents as you assist. This is a good time to start getting your ‘Hi-Five count’ up…building rapport with the students. Once the “safety patrol” kids arrive, you can choose to just supervise and help when needed.7:47am – (All Volunteers) The warning bell rings to close down the car loop. Go to the library and your child(ren) should now meet you there for the MORNING NEWS. Here you and your Sanders Students will be formally introduced to the school (via Live TV). Immediately after the morning news, you can walk your child(ren) to their respective classesIMPORTANT!!!!! PLEASE be mindful that although it is very exciting for the children to enjoy the privilege of having WatchDOGS in their classrooms, we must respect the learning environment at all times! Teachers are still responsible for continuing the education process and we must ensure that students remain focused on instruction while we are present in the classrooms. This may be somewhat challenging at times, but let us do our very best to assist, and not distract.8:00am – At this time you should begin to follow YOUR SCHEDULE as printed. As you are progressing through the day, try to stay on schedule. It might seem a little hectic, but the team lead teacher in each grade level WILL be expecting you. Once you arrive, you may assist them in their classroom– OR be directed to another classroom where you are needed for that block of time. BE SURE to REQUEST to be sent to YOUR STUDENT’S CLASSROOM when you are volunteering in their grade level(s). This is the one of the main reasons you are volunteering! Also, you may be asked to assist elsewhere with special projects in other classes. The team lead teacher will instruct you to do so when this opportunity arises. CAFETERIA RULES -NOTE: You must wear sanitary latex gloves before assisting students or wiping tables. Assist the staff by wiping down the tables after each group of students finish their lunches. The Allergy Table will be sanitized by staff ONLY. NOTE: You can only assist students (who raise their hands) with opening items. Due to their subjectivity, all other issues (restroom privileges, etc.) must be directed to cafeteria staff and teachers ONLY. As your child comes in to eat lunch, please take this valuable time to sit/eat with them and their friends during their lunch period(s). This is the most time you will be able to spend with them (one-on-one). Also, because of the frequency of WatchDOG volunteers and recent budgetary issues, SCES will no longer provide complimentary lunches. You are welcome to store your lunch in the Teacher’s Lounge or purchase a meal from the cafeteria. As always, socialize with the kids. THEY LOVE IT! Feel free to sit and spend a little time with them while you are helping the cafeteria staff if (as) needed.2:20pm – Please check with an Administrator to see what additional help may be needed. If/When performing Front Entrance/Exit Traffic Duty in the afternoon, BE CAREFUL and PLEASE wear the safety vest provided, which is in the WatchDOG station. We ask that you do NOT stand near the traffic cones or assist with directing traffic due to safety concerns. Please do help load the busses and insure that the children are safe in/around the car loop. After this, YOUR JOB IS DONE! Enjoy the rest of your day and thank you for volunteering! Don’t be surprised when the kids recognize you “out in public”. You are now a local celebrity: a Hero of the Hallway! ................
