Elledge to speak

The Prairie Lutheran Church Sunday Spotlight Speakers events continue at 10 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 14, between worship services. The presentation by author and speaker Professor Casey Elledge, of Gustavus Adolphus College, is titled "Then, Their Eyes Were Opened: The Resurrection Stories of Luke's Gospel."

"Professor Elledge teaches in the area of New Testament. His teaching and research interests include Jesus and the Gospels, early Judaism, archaeology and the Dead Sea Scrolls. Before coming to Gustavus, Elledge served as a Fulbright Scholar at the Hebrew University Institute for Archaeology in 2002. His research incorporates historical, textual and theological studies of both Early Christian and Jewish literature. He holds degrees from Centenary College, Princeton Theological Seminary and Ecole Biblique de Jerusalem," according to a news release.

Faith Tour

Prairie Lutheran Church is hosting a tour titled "Dakota Road" from 1-5:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14. In the church's annual Our Neighbor's Faith program, adults visit other places of worship to learn more. The tour will be led by the Rev. Joel Quie.

"Join us for a unique journey to our Minnesota faith foundations. Our original neighbor's faith was Native American. We will learn about Dakota spirituality and its interactions with Christian missionaries. We will visit five sites where these differing religious expressions met," according to a news release. "We begin at Prairie Lutheran for an orientation and receive handouts. We will then car pool/caravan to different locations in Minneapolis. The afternoon will be an interactive field trip where we will meet the residents of our state before Minnesota was a state."
