Brief Summative Unit Assessment Description-

Professional, interactive timeline. Letter to Secretary of State John Kerry regarding North Korea.

Lesson Plan- Students will take part in a three day social action project that begins with the drafting of a letter to Secretary of State John Kerry regard the United States actions regarding North Korea.

Day 1: Students will be tasked with drafting an argumentative letter urge specific action and involvement with North Korea. Students will be required to be informed of diplomatic options and their repercussions from our study of the Cold War.

Day 2: Students will start the day in small groups of 4-5 individuals. In these groups students will read their papers aloud to the group. The groups job is to provide affirmation and feedback that will improve the letter. Students will then have the opportunity to edit their papers using the group's feedback.

Day 3: Final papers are due to be handed in. Two copies must be submitted. One copy will be given to the teacher and the second will be used in the group setting again. Students will then decide from each group which paper is the best. Each group will then be responsible for submitting that letter to Secretary of State John Kerry.
