GEOGRAPHY LESSON PLAN FOR GRADE 4 – LESSON FOUR.

CONTENT: MAPWORK

TOPIC : CONCEPT OF CONTINENTS, OCEANS ,COUNTRIES ,PROVINCES, CAPITAL CITES AND

BOUNDARIES.

DURATION: 14 hours (three and half weeks)

| |Teacher brings to class a map of Southern Africa which | |

| |depicts boundaries between countries.He explains giving | |

| |examples of boundaries. | |

| |Learners identify boundaries between countries in Southern | |

| |Africa and boundaries between Provinces in South Africa | |

| |-Learners identify all the neighbouring countries and | |

| |provinces with which their province , the Eastern Cape shares | |

| |boundariesries. | |

| |-They list them down . | |

| |-They indicate the direction each is situated in terms of | |

| |cardinal points as has been taught in the previous lessons on | |

| |direction. | |

| |ACITVITY 5 | |

| |With the guidance of the teacher, learners identify physical | |

| |features like mountains , rivers , swamps and any other | |

| |physical features of significance in South Africa | |

| |-Learners do the same with features in the Eastern Cape and | |

| |with any other features available in the local landscape. | |
