Algebra IA – Graphing Poster Project

Algebra IA – Graphing Poster Project

This project will be worth 75 points. It will be due on November 22nd. A 10% penalty (7.5 pts) will be deducted for every day late.

The project is to create a poster that describes one of the techniques for graphing a linear equation. The three techniques we discussed are:

1. Using a table of points

2. Using the 2 intercepts

3. Using the slope intercept form

The poster should include all the steps necessary to graph any linear equation. It should include an example graph. For example if you choose the intercept method be sure to explain how to find both intercepts and clearly show the intercepts on the sample graph. If you choose the slope-intercept form be sure to state how you get into the slope intercept form and what each term means and how it applies to the sample graph.

The poster will be graded as follows:

- Correct & completeness: 50 points

- Neatness & creativity: 25 points

An example “rubric” (grading guide) is on the back.

Feel free to show me a draft outside of class if you want to make sure you are on the right track.

| |Table |Intercepts |Slope – Intercept |

|Correct – Complete |How are points generated? |How is x-intercept calculated? |How do you get in slope-intercept form? |

| |How are points plotted? |How is y-intercept calculated? |What does each term mean? |

| |What are the coordinates of each point? |Are intercepts clearly shown on graph? |How do you plot y-intercept? |

| |How is line drawn? |Are coordinates of intercepts given? |What are coordinates of y-intercept |

| |Are axes shown and labeled? |How is line drawn? |How do you use slope to get another point? |

| | |Are axes shown and labeled? |How do you draw the line? |

| | | |Are axes shown and labeled? |

|Neatness & creativity |Is the poster neat? |

| |Is the poster attractive? |

| |Is your name and gradebook number included (on the back is fine). |
