Webliography of Notable Picture BooksAshley JoyceI am currently subbing in some school districts right now, so I am not a full-time teacher yet. I thought it would be a good idea to do this webliography on notable picture books for all ages. I did my research on picture books of all ages because right now I am subbing in all different grades and I believe that picture books can be used for children of any age. I also thought this would help me start to build my own classroom library with notable picture books. Jane Addams Children’s Book Awards first visiting this website, it is visually appealing. The illustrations you first see are the winners of the Jane Addams Children’s Book Award. This award is given out to books that promote the cause of social justice, peace, world community, and equality between all races and genders. This website is factual, accurate and appealing in many ways. It has everything you need to know about this award and the books that won the award.Michael L. Printz Award website provides the explanation of what a Michael Printz award is, which is for young adult literature. This I thought would be good for me because I am subbing in all different grades and now I can get an idea of what the older children may be reading or what books will be good for them. This website is through the American Library Association, which is very notable. I consider this website to be factual, current, and accurate. The Coretta Scott King Award really loved this website because it gives you the immediate description of the award and also shows you what the award symbol looks like. There is also a place on the side of the page, where you can get access to the previous winners and nominees in this award all the way back to 1999. There is also another link to show all the books and illustrations that Coretta Scott has ever done. This website gives pictures and descriptions of the books that were winners and nominees. I thought this website was very factual, accurate, and visually appealing.ALA/Current Notable Children’s Books really loved this website, although it is not visually appealing at first because it is all text, the website has so much to offer. There is a list of all notable children’s books which they have lists for younger readers, middle readers, and older readers. I thought this was great especially for me since I am not in one specific grade yet. I definitely would use this website to help myself build my classroom library with a multitude of books. Notable Children’s Books from 1900-Present website offers a ton of notable children’s books all the way back to 1900. I would probably use some of the books that are written in earlier times because they are classic, but I would focus more on the newer books. I thought this website was great in giving the name, author, illustrator, and the age ranges for each book. This website would be of great use for me in the classroom and building my library. Author/Illustrators for Picture Books really loved this website because it offered links to all different authors and illustrators of picture books. I also loved this website because it offered links to all different subjects and the names of different picture books that would be great to use with that particular subject. This website is also very visually appealing and has so much to offer a teacher. I would definitely use this website a ton. California Young Read Medal/Picture Books for Older Readers website provides different types of picture books for older readers. The awards go back to the year 2000 when this award started and you can click on the book to get information. I thought this website was very useful and accurate. It also provides many different links to all sorts of resources. CCBC Booklists: Never Too Old Picture Books website also provides picture books that a teacher can use to share with older children and teens. I liked this because I could use this website as a reference when subbing for the higher grades. This website has links to authors and illustrators and also books for children and young adults. This website is very factual and would be of great use for teachers looking for books to share with older students. ALA/Caldecott Medal medal is given through the American Library Association, so this website is very accurate and factual. I loved this website because it provides the Caldecott medal winners and honor books from 1938-present. A person can also click on the actual book and get more information that way as well. I think this website is great because it provides great illustrations and notable books. ALA/Newberry Medal medal is also given through the American Library Association. It is pretty much the same website, but dedicated to the Newberry award, which is for some older readers. It is mostly chapter books that this award is given too. You can view award winners from 1922-present. This website is very factual and accurate. I definitely love this website and think it is great to figure out what notable books can be used in a classroom for older children. ................
